Come and Cheer on your friends
and their accomplishments!
A message from our specialty chairperson, Sue Sommer, regarding our June Show:
Thanks to some awesome volunteers, we have some newFriday night fun activities to accompany the obedience/rally ring rental and the ever-popular dinner. I am also happy about the heart clinic on Friday.
The raffle, I mean drawing, continues to loom as a challenge to top last year. The items for the special card draw are purchased. Remember, you can bring "incomplete" raffle items and the Drawing Committee will assemble baskets. Please bring the treasures onFriday, not to the meeting. Also anyone with extra baskets is welcome to just bring those.
As usual, I am encouraging members to invite novice Labrador owners to our specialty. If they are taking obedience classes, theymay be able to competein Beginner Novice. Again, with appropriate prep, they might like the Friday CGC--and they will definitely like the Friday Night Fun stuff. Linda Waco and I have a couple of "dog show prep" classes for rookies that anyone entering our showis welcome to attend.
Two more things: Thanks to Victoria we may have a new trailer, pending the club meeting on Monday. The old trailer owes us nothing; and a new one with its own spare tire and everything, might be wonderful. Also, if you want to help at the show without signing your life away, I have a few little jobs available. My cell is 262-496-4433 and email, . Thank you so much to the many folks who are helping so enthusiastically. Also to the few that can't make it this year, we will miss you.
A Recipe for Your Dog
Sorry, they just have to eat the same old same old, this month!
Something to
Howl About!
From Jennie Macaluso
Nachusa’s Little Black Titan (Phoebe) – Proud to announce that on 4/3/16 Phoebe earned her UKC Conformation Championship and her UKC “SPOT ON” title at the USGDA show in MN. On 3/19, Rock-in Ralphie Ruditys earned his final leg for his AKC Beginner Novice title at Badger KC. Additionally, on 4/17/16 he earned the first leg of his AKC Companion Dog Title, and on 4/3/16 he earned his UKC “SPOT ON” title at the USGDA show in MN.
BTW - The UKC “Socialized Pet Obedience Test” (SPOT) program consists of ten separate testing stations. At each station, the dog must perform a basic exercise. These exercises are used to demonstrate that the general public would expect to see and meet a well behaved dog. The dog will receive a rating at each station, varying from “Outstanding” to “Needs Practice”. Depending on the rating, the dog can receive a “SPOT” or the higher level of achievement, the coveted “SPOT ON” title. The “ON” stands for “Outstanding Neighbor”. The test is very similar to the AKC Canine Good Citizen title, with a few more exercises. It is fun. Check it out!
Dunn's Marsh Cinderella Story started her Barn Hunt career at NW Obedience Club's trial on 4/2/16 at 9 months of age with a pass of the instinct test (in 13 seconds) for her RATI then qualified in Novice. She then finished her Novice Barn Hunt title (RATN) on 4/9/16 at the Janesville-Beloit Kennel Club Barn Hunt with a first place, getting faster each time. I moved her up to Open the next day and she got her first leg with a second place.
April 22nd Summer, River and Marti all qualified in the senior class at the Happy Feet Barn Hunt taking first, second and third respectively in the class. Marti tried to deliver one of the rat tubes to hand. The Labs all love the Barn Hunt (finding the rats) game. If anyone ever wants to try their dogs at this fun sport I do offer training and practice times at my farm.
River and Summer continue to excel in Masters agility as well with River earning a Double Q on 4/23 at the Forest City Trial and Summer qualifying in Masters standard that day.
