Technology Transfer Grants

The National Institute for Transportation and Communities (NITC)announces the opportunity to apply for grants to support implementation or translation of research results. Grants are limited to disseminating results stemming from previously funded and completed research funded by the Oregon Transportation Research and Education Consortium (OTREC) or NITC. The purpose of these awards is to turn research into products that can be used by practitioners and/or researchers to further advance implementation. Priority will be given to projects that promote transportation and livable communities.

The following are examples of the kinds of activities we hope to support:

  • Activity aimed at assisting local agencies or partners in implementing research results. This can be in the form of an in-person workshop, on-line webinar, development of a “how to” or training video, handbook, guidebook, software/spreadsheet tools, etc.
  • Refining or developing and disseminating tools that can be used by practitioners, students, or researchers to further the state of the practice.

Items which will not be supported by this initiative:

  • Travel not essential to performing project tasks.
  • Travel to conferences.
  • A student-led activity or research.
  • Long-term personnel support.

Grant expectations:

  • Any products (e.g., software, renderings, etc.) or publications (e.g., presentations, reports, handbooks, etc.) produced as a result of funding will be posted on the NITC website for free distribution.
  • All products must properly attribute NITC and the USDOT for funding. Please refer to the PI Handbook for proper attribution.
  • Bi-annual progress reports for the duration of the project.
  • 1:1 match is required on all grants.

Eligibility

Principal Investigators (PIs) or co-PIs from Portland State University, University of Oregon, Oregon Institute of Technology or University of Utahwho have received OTREC or NITC funds.PI must be in good standing with no overdue reports or requirements.
