Meeting Opened
Following the Pledge of Allegiance, Patricia J. Engfer, First Vice Chair, called the meeting to order at 12:00 p.m. A welcome was extended to all Board Members and guests who were in attendance. Special thanks were expressed to the Sponsor of the April Board of Governors meeting, Gemma N. Filliben, Vice President, Business Development, who gave an update on iplacement, Inc., and their services. Jacob V. Stuart introduced Lonnie C. Bell in his new position as Executive Director of the African American Chamber of Commerce of Central Florida. Kevin R. Weickel, Tournament Chairman, Disney Golf Classic and Head Golf Professional, Walt Disney World Golf, made a $100,000 presentation to Robert H. Brown, President/CEO of Heart of Florida United Way from the proceeds of the 2006 FUNAI Golf Classic. Mr. Brown expressed his gratitude, and explained that ten (10) United Way agencies would benefit from Walt Disney World Company’s generous gift.
Chair’s Report
Patricia J. Engfer, 2007 First Vice Chair, called for approval of the 2007 Board of Governors Meeting Minutes of February 28 and March 28, 2007. A motion was made, seconded, and unanimously approved to accept the Minutes as presented. The next Executive Board Meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 23, 2007, 8:00 to 9:30 a.m., in the Chamber Board Room. The next Board of Governors Meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 27, 2007,
11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., in the Chamber Board Room, and will be sponsored by Orlando Magic.

Past Chair’s Report
In the absence of James M. Lewis, Past Chair and Chair, 2007 Leadership Development Committee, Jacob V. Stuart reported that the 2007 Leadership Development Committee held their first meeting, and will be meeting periodically throughout the year. He also encouraged members of the Board to submit names to any member of the Committee for service on the 2008 Board of Governors. Those serving on the 2007 Leadership Development Committee include: James M. Lewis, Chair, Des Cummings, Jr., Patricia J. Engfer, Carolyn Fennell, Janet Horvath-Pino, Fred R. Kittinger, Jr., Wendy Kurtz, Kelley P. Mossburg and Ed Timberlake.
Introduction of Program
Patricia J. Engfer introduced Mark B. McHugh, CEO, Gatorland, and Chairman of the Orlando/Orange County Convention & Visitors Bureau, Inc., who also introduced Gary C. Sain. Mr. Sain shared “The Orlando/Orange County CVB Story,” with a Q&A period following.
Vice Chairs’ Reports
Jeffery Q. Jonasen, Chair, gave an update on BusinessForce. Michael Ketchum, Vice President Public Policy, reported that the 2007 Baker Hostetler Washington, D.C., Regional “Fly-In” will be held Tuesday – Thursday, May 15 – 17, 2007.
President’s Report
Jacob V. Stuart gave a detailed update on the Assessment Phase of the Chamber Enterprise Process for Transformation, including CEO Leadership Interviews and upcoming “Focus Group” and “Workshop Meetings.” The next Chamber Trustees Community Luncheon, “Diversity, Inclusion and Community Wealth,” featuring Guest Speaker, Marc H. Morial, President and CEO, National Urban League, will be held on Friday, June 15, 2007, 11:30 am. to 1:30 p.m., at the DoubleTree Hotel at the Entrance to Universal Orlando. Mr. Stuart advanced dates for key events for the remainder of 2007. The 2007 Hispanic Summit will be held Thursday, June 28 – Friday, June 29, 2007, at the Hyatt Regency Orlando International Airport. The UCF Community “Kick-Off” Luncheon will be held Thursday, August 30, 2007, 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at the Rosen Centre Hotel. TheCommunity Mission to China: Beijing, Shanghai, Guilin, Yangshuo and Hong Kong, being held in partnership with: Orlando Regional Chamber of Commerce, Metro Orlando Economic Development Commission and Bill Bachmann Studios, will be held Monday – Wednesday, September 24 – October 3, 2007.
Jacob V. Stuart extended congratulations to James B. "Buck" Leahy Jr., in his new endeavor as President & CEO of Buck Leahy Consulting & Communications, as well as to Cari Coats in her new position as President & CEO of C2 Advisors.
Mr. Stuart offered potted flowers to members of the Board as our “thank you” to their respective Administrative Assistants as we celebrate this Administrative Professionals Day.
Other Business
Margot Knight, President & CEO of United Arts of Central Florida, Inc., presented prints to Jacob Stuart, Kristine Vorpagel Shields and Lisa Winkelbauer for their support in the Chamber’s 3-year partnership with United Arts of Central Florida, Inc.
