5. CONFLICT OF INTEREST

In general terms, a conflict of interest exists when a Committee Member could be influenced, or a reasonable person would perceive that a Committee Member could be influenced by a personal interest when carrying out their duties on the committee.

To ensure the integrity of and public confidence in decisions made by Committee Members it is essential that Members do not undertake a decision-making function where they have a conflict of interest Members must, therefore, ensure that opportunities do not exist for their personal interests or the interests of people close to them or organisations of which they are a member, come into conflict with the impartial performance of their public or professional duties.

If unsure of a conflict of interest, Committee Members are to contact Council CEO for clarification.
