Position Summary:

Tampa Preparatory School is seeking a Director of Marketing and Publications with a high level of energy, creativeness, and the ability to collaborate with multiple departments. This individual should also possess a strong desire learn the history of Tampa Prep. This position is responsible for the coordination, integration and implementation of all publications, communications and marketing initiatives at Tampa Preparatory School resulting in a comprehensive, consistent marketing and communications plan. This position is responsible for coordinating communications, publications and marketing efforts with numerous constituent groups including faculty, staff, students, parents, alumni, outside vendors, partner organizations and the media. Working in the Development Office, the Admissions Office and with the Head of School, this individual fosters and promotes the mission of the School, its brand and its image, both internally and externally, using effective written materials, e-communications, web strategies and cutting-edge technology. The Director of Marketing and Publications manages the Communications Coordinator, overseeing all work done by this position.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Manage a comprehensive communications program, including print materials, advertising, web communications, some media relations and all other activities related to promoting the School, its students, faculty and programs.
  • Create and maintain a comprehensive marketing strategy to inform prospective families about Tampa Prep’s programs and maintain brand awareness in the Tampa Bay area and beyond.
  • Create a coordinated communication strategy including both publications, printing and marketing programs, which will most effectively communicate with our various constituencies, serve the School’s mission and bring positive recognition to Tampa Prep.
  • Act as webmaster to oversee and manage all areas of the Tampa Prep’s CMS website, our go-to resource for information about the School. Responsible for keeping design elements and content updated, as well as training staff within various modules.
  • Oversee the use of our bulk email provider for the School’s e-communications, including the weekly push page and all bulk email to current parents from School administrators.
  • Review and edit content in publications, bulk email, website and other communications from the School to ensure brand consistency in all School publications.
  • Work with Head of School, Admissions Office and Development Office to promote the School’s image, news and successes through design, graphics and written materials.
  • Create and produce appropriate special event and marketing materials, post cards, invitations and publications, including Admissions Open House promotions, Summer Programs brochure, campaign materials for Development and various materials for departments.
  • Coordinate the evaluation and redesign of the Tampa Prep marketing program when needed.
  • Build and maintain a visual image of the School that is modern and consistent in all printed and web materials.
  • Research software used for graphic design, photography, illustration, electronic publishing and other related computerized aspects of graphic design or communication for marketing use.
  • Manage all School publications including organizing publication deadlines and communicating the release/print timing requirements.
  • Create templates as necessary to assist faculty/staff with designs and illustrations used for School events.
  • Assist with taking and storing photos for use in published materials

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations,digital media or related field strongly preferred and three years of professional communications experience.
  • Proficiency on Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator.
  • Familiarity with tools like Hubspot, basic html code and ability to work within CMS tool for web design and the ability to design web based lead generation funnels.
  • Strong initiative and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong writing skills, attention to detail, initiative and the ability to communicate effectively with multiple constituencies.
  • Strong planning and project management skills with an ability to balance competing priorities and work under deadlines.
  • Ability to understand social media and its role in strategic communications.
  • Proficiency in designing digital strategies that engage target audiences, creative digital asset placement, and familiarity with search engine optimization, Google analytics and AdWords.
  • Proficiency in analyzing digital metrics and making strategy adjustments based on desired outcomes.
