Invitational Football Championship

Rules and Regulations

Review of the Rules for the Tournament are as follows:

(1) The roster that will be submitted as of Wednesday Oct. 8, 2014 will be the official roster. Players may only be added to this roster after approval by the Activities Committee. Playing a student-athlete that was not on the original roster and not approved by the Activities Committee may result in a forfeiture of that game.

(2) Student Athletes cannot turn15 years old before September 1, 2014 to be eligible for the Tournament. A folder containing all birth certificates of each player is required to be on-hand at the game on the field. Please alphabetize your folder. If a player’s age is protested and the birth certificate is not immediately on-hand, the Host Tournament Director is required to immediately disallow the “player in question” from playing in that ball game. Once play begins for the first half, no protest for overage players may be conducted. The overage player would be ineligible for any subsequent games in the Tournament. Protests concerning an overage player may only be made before the start of the game.

(3) Starting July 1st, 2013. Beginning with the initial 7th grade year, to be eligible for ORES activities and also to be eligible for OSSAA activities in high school, a student may not participate in any activities in a repeat year even if the student did not participate in the initial year. Subsequently, the student may participate in the following initial 8th grade year. This rule change follows the OSSAA six consecutive years rule.

(4) Student Athletes must be either a legal resident of the district where they play or have an approved transfer into that district. Student Athletes that were granted transfers into your school district after September 1, 2014 will be ineligible to participate in this tournament. Schools should be prepared to provide the committee with a copy of the

OSDE open/emergency transfer form of any student athlete that is in question. Additionally, student athletes must be on their school’s football roster and suited up for at least one game in September.

(5) A student athlete may only play/suit-up for one team in the tournament.

(6) Since several schools do not have a home and away jersey, you may want to bring your own target jerseys or you may be required to wear the Host site’s target jerseys.

(7) Abusive language or misconduct of any kind will not be allowed at the Tournament. Any coach that is made to leave the game by the referee will not be allowed to coach the next ORES Tournament game and must immediately leave the stadium area and school grounds. Any player that is removed from a game by a referee will not be allowed to play in the next subsequent ORES Tournament game. Please note: Abusive language or misconduct by anyone in the stadium area may result in immediate removal from the school grounds. Unsportmanship-like conduct will not be tolerated. Please remember that this Tournament is founded on the premise to provide a positive public relation campaign for our K-8 schools.

(8) The Tournament Director has jurisdiction over the activities and proceedings of this playoff tournament. Any questions concerning the tournament should be directed towards the Tournament Director. All protests concerning any other unforeseen events must be lodged with a committee member in writing within 24 hours of the end of the game in question.

(9)Games will consist of eight-minute quarters and football overtime procedures.

(10) Superintendent or administrative designee of each participating school must be present and visible at each school’s Tournament ballgame and be available to the Host Tournament Director/Superintendent if any occasion arises.

(11)Filming or recording of ballgames will only be permitted if the person filming or recording is affiliated with the team playing at that time. Filming or recording of games for the purpose of scouting teams will not be permitted.
