ORDER SONS OF ITALY IN AMERICA MASON DIXON LODGE #2669

SCHOLARSHIP GUIDELINES

1. Lodge members and their families must be considered first.

2. All graduating high school seniors of Italian-American ancestry, who are residents of Southern York County and Northern Baltimore County and who are American citizens are eligible to apply. This includes immediate family members of lodge members who may not live in the geographical area.

3. We forward letters to the high schools in the aforementioned areas announcing the scholarship and

the guidelines of the awards. The program will provide scholarship assistance to eligible students for study at the post secondary level, which includes four-year colleges, two-year colleges and accredited vocational/technical schools.

4. We suggest the schools announce the scholarship through student newspapers and bulletin boards with instructions to apply through their guidance office to us.

5. Applicants must have a record of academic achievement in their previous school work, and also must demonstrate sufficient aptitude as indicated by standardized test scores that will predict their ability to benefit from further study. We will accept recommendations, but the selection and amount of

the award will be made by the Mason Dixon Sons of Italy Lodge Scholarship Fund Committee, with the board’s approval.

6. Scholarship awards for individual students can be for a maximum of $1,000.

7. Scholarships will be made payable to the student and the school.

8. The calendar of the scholarship program will operate in sequence with the academic year beginning

in September and concluding in June. Awards will be made within that time frame.

9. The Scholarship Committee will interview the various applicants.

10. Deadline for applications is April 15, 2008. Please send to: Order Sons of Italy in America
