Orange Level Project 3Exercise 1: Practicing New Skills
In this project you will:
- Select similarly formatted text and change its formatting
- Paint formats
- Find and replace text
- Move text
- Cite sources with footnotes
- Insert a Continuous section break
- Change section margins
- Insert and remove page numbers
A Continuous section break allows you to create a new section without creating a new page. You can create a Continuous section break by clicking the Insert Page and Section Breaks button in the Page Setup group on the Page Layout tab to displaying the page and section breaks gallery. Then you can click Continuous in the Section Breaks area of the gallery.

Let’s practice our new skills.
1.Open the Orange P3Exercise 1data file and save it as Orange P3 Exercise 1 solution. Turn on the nonprinting characters, if necessary.
2.Change the document margins to 2-inch top and 1-inch bottom, left, and right margins.
3.Use a shortcut menu to select all the text formatted with the Italic font style and change the formatting to the Bold font style.
4.Use a shortcut menu to select all the text formatted with the Heading 2 style and change the formatting to the Heading 1 style.
5.Use the Format Painter to copy the formatting from The Hanging Gardens of Babylon paragraph heading to The Pharos of Alexandria paragraph heading.
6.Find all instances of the word six and replace it with the word seven.
7.Select TheColossus of Rhodes paragraph heading and following body text paragraph. Use cut and paste or drag and drop to move the selected paragraphs so that they immediately follow The Pharos of Alexandria body text paragraph.
8.Insert the following footnotes:
At the end of the first body text paragraph: Peter Clayton and Martin Price, The Seven Wonders of the Ancient World (New York: Routledge, Reprint Edition, 1990), p. 5.
At the end of The Great Pyramid of Giza body text paragraph: “Pyramids: The Inside Story,” NOVA Online Adventure, 1997 (accessed 25 March 20--).
9.Move the insertion point to the top of the second page and insert a Continuous section break to create a new document section without creating a new page.
10.Set the top margin for the new section to 1 inch.
11.Move the insertion point to the top of the first page and insert right-aligned page numbers in a header; then remove the page number from the first page. Verify that the second page is numbered Page 2.
12.Save and close the document.
