Install Notes

If you are upgrading from a version earlier than 4.0.0.14 all data for the NotifyLink application will be removed before installing. PIM data will not be removed until an initial sync is performed.

Outstanding Issues

  1. Upgrade from 4.0: Upgrading from versions prior to 4.5.0 may fail due to problems upgrading data files because of database corruption. Some 4.0 clients suffer from bugs that result in NotifyLink database corruption. Upgrading to the 4.5 client under these conditions could cause unpredictable results. The 4.5 upgrade process will detect these conditions and disallow the upgrade, requiring a complete uninstall and reinstall of the 4.5 application.

Details: Use the uninstall feature that is included in the NLInstaller application (accessible using the “Uninstall NotifyLink” menu item).

  1. Contacts: Changing contacts on the server with less than three e-mail address may result in duplicate e-mail addresses for the contact item on the device.
  1. NotifyLink is unable to synchronize PIM items if the native PIM databases have not been created (and NotifyLink is unable to create native PIM databases).

Workaround: To create the native PIM databases, simply open each native PIM application before issuing OTA Loads in NotifyLink. This will ensure that all of the PIM databases are created and NotifyLink can synchronize PIM items.

  1. Calendar: Creating exceptions to recurring events by deleting individual instances from the device will not correctly synchronize to the server.
  1. Opening the Calendar application on some devices will cause the device to reset if NotifyLink is synchronizing calendar items.

Workaround: Use “Calendar Launcher [Application]” setting in the General settings to use the NotifyLink calendar launcher.

  1. No 5-way navigator support on the attachments forms.
  1. Palm is limited to 15 characters for category lengths. Address Books with names longer than this do not synchronize the Address Book name completely to the device. If a Contact in such a Category is edited on the device, the Category will be only 15 characters. The server will then create a new Address Book with the 15-character name.
  1. Messages that are larger than 64,000 characters cannot be completely retrieved at the device. The device will only retrieve up to 64,000 characters of the message.

Releases

Version: 4.6.0

Description: Public Release

Date: 2009.04.27

Changes and New Features

  1. NotifyLink Enterprise Server 4.6 Support
  2. Stronger encryption with AES
  3. New security features – Password policies, Password History, Password Expiration, Challenge Timeout
  4. New email features – Track Sent Items and Use Trash Folder

Bug Fixes

  1. Palm Centro: This device does not support the Smart Text Engine which means that URLs, e-mail addresses, phone numbers, etc… will not appear as links when viewing them in e-mail messages. Additionally, you are unable to scroll a message using the 5-way navigator.
  1. Security (LOCK Command): Sending a LOCK command (“Prompt for Password” under Server IT Policies from the web) will not lock the device immediately. The device will not lock until it is turned off either by the inactivity timeout, the power button, or a reset.
  1. Security (Treo Devices): Enabling security (lock) on the server or the device will not lock the device on the specified interval. Instead, device is locked any time the device is shut off, whether it is due to pressing the power button, a soft reset, or the inactivity timer expiring. Therefore, the prompt for password will be displayed when the device is turned back on again rather than every so many minutes (defined by the interval).
  1. Push Settings: The Push Settings screen will not allow you to set an interval in which the in the Start Time are greater than the minutes in the End Time.

Example: 6:55am – 6:00 pm.
