Operation Take Back Your Health War

More than 30 percent of American children are obese or overweight. This is triple the number than in 1980.

Poor nutrition is everywhere; only 2 percent of school-age children consistently eat well.

Kids are less active overall due to today's fast-paced but sedentary lifestyles. Only 8 percent of elementary school students and 6 percent of middle school and high school students have daily PE at school.

All of these children face serious, yet preventable, obesity-related health risks such as diabetes, heart disease and some types of cancer.

Instructions

  1. Read the assignment carefully
  2. If you prefer typing, use Times New Roman Font and Double Spaced
  3. Reference page ( at least 2 references per assignment number)

3. Illustrate a healthy body versus an unhealthy obese body.

4. How does your knowledge of the physical science standards help in the fight againstchildhood obesity?

List the standards and objectives that correlate with the fight against obesity and describe how they work hand in hand.

5. Find ways that YOU can help fight childhood obesity.

6. Research obesity related health risks.

Describe the health risk in full detail and describe ways in which you can combat the health effect

7. Create a fitness routine that students can use to exercise their brain and body.

Show what types of simple machines are being used (i.e. lever), forces, energy

Transformations.

8. Healthy Eating and You

Describe how food preparation and cooking involves many of the concepts learned in physical science.

Explain ways that you can incorporate healthy eating in your diet

Create a lunch menu that shows how foods can be cooked by different methods and how that dictates whether it’s healthy or not. Place the information in a chart.

Example potatoes being boiled, baked or fried.

Illustrate the food pyramid with pictures and percentages.
