OPERATING PROPOSAL – SELF DRIVE DAY HIRE BOATS

Please try to fill out this form as fully as possible, but do ask your Business Boating Manager for assistance if required. We will use the information provided to assess your proposals for navigational safety, water resource and quality and other likely impacts on the waterway.

Upon receipt of your proposal, we will write and confirm receipt and give you an in principle decision within 6 weeks. Please note that if you may need to obtain agreements for using our property this may take much longer to finalise.

How many day hire boats do you want to run? (Day Hire boats have no overnight accommodation and are let out for periods of up to 12 hours).
Please tell us how many will be powered and how many will be unpowered
Please describe your proposed business (we require this information to review and approve your application, so please consider this carefully and provide as much information as possible).
Where will the boats be moored? (Please tell us the exact location or if they will be kept out of the water)
Please include photos to show the mooring location and tick to confirm the supporting information is attached.
Please confirm if this is a new or existing mooring site:
  1. If this is a new mooring location, we will need to assess this as part of your Operating Proposal.
For the assessment of new mooring location there is a non-refundable fee of £90 inclusive of VAT (at standard rate) towards our administration and initial assessment costs. Details on how to make payment are outlined on the bottom of this form.
If this is an existing mooring location, we will require confirmation from the mooring provider.
Where will hirers board and disembark safely?
Where will the boats be serviced? (Cleaned, re-fuelled, water tanks filled, sewage tanks emptied)
What provision do you have for customer parking?
How will you dispose of any commercial waste generated by your business?
Are you aware that powered boats let out for hire need a non-private BSS certificate?
Tick to demonstrate that you understand that will need to prepare a detailed Handover Procedure to give hirers full instructions on how to navigate safely, how to operate waterway structures such as locks or lift bridges and how to use all the appliances on board? /

When your operation has been approved, you will need to submit:

  • Insurance: We do not require a copy of your current commercial insurance certificate, however we may carry out random checks on declarations.
  • Non-private BSS Certificate (or BB BSS Exemption Declaration form)
  • Full handover document or British Marine Handover Audit Certificate

With regards to making the £90 application fee payment (if applicable) please either attach a cheque to your application. Alternatively, if you wish to pay by bank transfer / card please confirm below and a member of our team will contact you with details on how to make payment.
