Opera Gallery Singapore at ION Orchard presents

a solo exhibition of recent works by Chinese contemporary artist Zhong Biao

from 13th January to 29th January 2012

Opera Gallery Singapore is pleased to present a solo exhibition of extraordinary Chinese contemporary artist Zhong Biao featuring a series of symbolic and aesthetically exceptional works from his most recent collection.

Zhong Biao stands as one of the world’s most enigmatic and eminent Chinese artists of our time. Thematic concerns like global consumerism, social reform and the inevitable juxtaposition of the East and West all form a great canvas of stunningaesthetics for this artist, and this show will astound and delight the eye of art lovers and collectors alike. Zhong Biao’s expansive canvases are swiftly becoming globally iconic and for good reason; this creative visionary’s oil-painted surreal worlds arequite literally impossible to overlook.

Zhong Biao is truly the master of folding space-time; he at once disturbs the gazeand banishes all inertia. There is no time here, there are only all times, as figures and objects move between contexts as if of liquid. Zhong Biao’s super realities are depicted in the artist’s trademark hyper realistic technique and his use of oil paint lends itself perfectly to this dream-like effect. Zhong Biao states, quite effortlessly, that even he does not foresee whom or what will emerge from the canvassed reality teetering beneath his brush.
