Opening of the Museum dedicated to Frederick II of Swabia

The Museum “Federico II Stupor Mundi” will open its doors during the spring 2017. It is aimed at celebrating the figure of Frederick II of Swabia, born in Jesi on 26th December 1194, and narrate his influence in the context of local, national and European history. The opening is an initiative of the entrepreneur GennaroPieralisi from Jesi through the Foundation Federico II Stupor Mundi, with the contribution of the Marche Foundation, the support of the City of Jesi and the Marche Region, and with the collaboration of Fondazione Federico II Hohenstaufen. The museum is dedicated to the Swabian Emperor with an Arab heart: the "Stupor Mundi" which was the grandson of Barbarossa, patron of the arts, as well as a great innovator in the field of law, politics and sciences. It will be a museum of historical narrative, based on digital collections, multimedia installations and multi-sensory attractions. Through collaborations, the museum will adopt a mixed media approach based on new technological tools and "digital assets", and the use of the full potential of multimedia and multichannel communication, offering a mix of experiences with components both informational and educational, emotional and entertainment. The premises designated to house the future museum, Palazzo Ghislieri, is located in Piazza Federico II, one of the most prestigious historic squares in Jesi. Precisely in this square was born Frederick II of Swabia, the future emperor of the Holy Roman Empire, who reserved great privileges and honors to Jesi, including the title of Royal City.

Celebrations to honourGiochino Rossini

From 2017 to 2019 in Pesaro, the 'City of Music', there will be many celebrations to honour Rossini. The celebrations are of different types and concern the biography of the composer, 'icon' of the city, and the anniversaries of his masterpieces. The celebrations will start with "The Rossinimana" scheduled from February 24th to March 5th : it’s a week dedicated to the "Swan of Pesaro", including events, concerts, workshops and further activities. The “Rossinimana" will end with the ideal birthday of Rossini, who was actually born on February 29th! On 27th February when "Rossini in scena" ( “Rossini on stage”) is scheduled, after 200 years from the composition, the Rossini Theatre will host "Cinderella", a concert performed by the Orchestra and Chorus of the Rossini Conservatory of Music, the Rossini Academy of " Rossini Opera Festival ", and directed by Alberto Zedda. On February 28th the Rossini Theatre will host "Rossini Overture," a premiere dance performance by the Spellbound company. Do not forget that every Sunday, from April to September, Pesaro honours the Grand Master with "L'ora di Rossini", that is an hour during the day, when you can listen to Rossini’s popular music ( "Rossini broadcasts") and enjoy live events taking place on the balcony of Rossini’s birthplace ( "Rossini in sips"). The celebrations will also include an exhibition called "Incoronati -images of royalty", which will be open to the public at Palazzo Mosca, home to the Civic Museum, from 1st July to 15th October 2017. From 9th to 11th June 2017 Pesaro will host a “Rossini International Conference 2017”, organized by the Rossini Foundation. The Scientific Committee boasts well known musicians, such as Daniele Carnini, IlariaNarici, Emilio Sala, Cesare Scarton, Emanuele Senici and Benjamin Walton.

CARNIVAL

Carnevale di Fano (Carnival of Fano)

The Fano Carnival is the oldest carnival in Italy, after the one in Venice, and the most important festival of the Marche Region, with a presence of over 100,000 people! Every year the large floats parade along with walking masked characters, with marching bands and folk groups, and during the parades quintals of sweets and chocolates rain floats by creating the traditional "project"! A spectacular shower of sweets making the Carnival of Fano the sweetest in the world! Carnival is an ideal opportunity to visit the lovely town of Fanoboasint an impressive Roman historical center with many monuments, including the famous Arch of Augustus, palaces and churches. The Church of Santa Maria Nuova hosts the table by Perugino Madonna and Saints, made in collaboration with the young RaffaelloSanzio; to be seen, is also the baroque church of San Pietro ad Valium, adorned with stucco, frescoes and gilding. A treat is the Fortune Theatre, built in 1665, and the Civic Museum, which houses an important archaeological section, while in the Gallery you can see sixteenth century paintings, including works by Guido Reni and Domenichino.

Carnevale Storico del Piceno (Historical Carnival of Piceno)

After the Carnival of Fano, considered the oldest of the Marche, the region is home to the Historical Carnival of Piceno involving the town of Ascoli Piceno, Castignano, Offida and Pozza. Carnival is an event that has been repeated for centuries and which is made up of many elements, from shows to classical Raviolata (Ravioli are a type ofdumplingcomposed of a filling sealed between two layers of thin pasta dough. Usually served either inbrothor with a pasta sauce, they originated as a traditional food inItalian cuisine. Ravioli are typically square, though other forms are also used, including circular or semi-circular, called “mezzelune”), in addition to the ever-present awards of masked groups, to parties for participants and for schools. Concerning the Carnival of Offida, at nightfall of the Mardi Gras, the ignition and the parade of Vlurd take place! Hundreds of masked men and women, with long bundles of lit reeds on their shoulders, parade through a "forced" path running through the main streets of the town. A celebration of singular originality having as scenery the picturesque medieval village of Offida!

Tipicità 2017

Tipicità is an event that is the well-established for the promotion of Made in Marche excellences involving all the Vocational Schools for Tourism and Hotel Management or Catering in the Marche together with farmers' custodians of biodiversity "and that will celebrate his final act in the Academy of Tipicità 2016. The initiative, entitled "Biodiversity in the kitchen", was planned by Assam in collaboration with the Marche Region. The theme will be: "Vegetables, the meat of the future." The three-day Tipicità takes place in March in Fermo. Fermo, an ancient Roman colony, then lady of castles and city of studies, is now the capital city of important manufacturing districts. The Roman pools, the cathedral, the Renaissance square, the theatre “dell’Aquila” tell their long and noble history!

“FrittoMistoall’Italiana” is a gastronomic festival that, every year, presents in Ascoli Piceno the best Italian and foreign fried food produced by an exceptional team of cooks in the large kitchen of “Palafritto”, which is an irreplaceable symbol of the event and place of worship for thousands of food enthusiasts. 52a Mostra Internazionale del Nuovo Cinema (52nd International Festival of New Cinema)

The International Festival of New Cinema is one of the most important film festivals in Italy. Supervised by Giovanni Spagnoletti, after almost 50 years, the Pesaro Film Festival has maintained its identity of event devoted to the discovery, the platform from which young directors and new languages ​​take the momentum towards the general public. Overlooking the Adriatic Sea, Pesaro with its 7 km of sandy beach, offers visitors the opportunity to visit the highlights, such as the Civic Museums and the great altarpiece by Giovanni Bellini, Villa Caprile, Palazzo Ducale, the House museum and the theatre dedicated to Gioachino Rossini, Villino Ruggeri in Art Nouveau. Musicultura - Festival of Popular Song and Authors

The festival Musicultura is a fertile ground for discussion and growth among established artists and new proposals for the recording industry. The event is an international showcase of quality music of the most established and prestigious of Italian music, especially for the popular song. The final evening, which declares the winner of the festival, is held every year in the beautiful arena Sferisterio in Macerata, one of the most significant works of the late European Neoclassicism. Macerata is a member of the Cities of Art and Culture Association and definitely worth a visit! In the old town you can admire the Town Hall, the Loggia dei Mercanti, the Prefecture Palace, the Church of San Paolo, the Clock Tower and the Theatre Lauro Rossi. The most important worship places in Macerata are the Cathedral of Our Lady of Mercy and the Duomo; not to be missed is the magnificent Palazzo Buonaccorsi, a museum of the city of Macerata, where you can also visit the Carriage Museum.

Inteatro Festival, held between Polverigi and Ancona, last ten days during which are presented international companies, renowned artists and new talents of theater and dance. Born in 1977 after the meeting of independent groups, the festival has since then had a role of promotion in Italy and abroad of the most significant and unique contemporary artistic experiences, showcase for both established artists and for beginners who thanks to Inteatro find affirmation and professional achievement. There comes for the seventeenth consecutive year, the summer appointment with TAU/Ancient Theatres Unites: a regional exhibition of classical theatre in a pleasant and functional conjugation of cultural heritage and activities offering the opportunity to enjoy sites of archaeological interest through shows, by the joint commitment of municipalities, Region, AMAT and Superintendency. This edition presents eighteen appointments of theatre for children and adults, housed in picturesque places of great interest: the Roman Theatre of Ascoli Piceno, the Archaeological Area in Santa Maria Portuno of Corinaldo, the Roman Theatre in Falerone, the Roman Theatre HelviaRecina of Macerata, the Archaeological Area La Cuma in Monte Rinaldo, the Town Hall of Osimo, Rocca Costanza in Pesaro, the Roman Baths in San Severino Marche and the Roman amphitheater of Urbisaglia. 53rd Macerata Opera Festival - ORIENTE

Turandot, Madama Butterfly and Aida: from the blue and deep waters of the Mediterranean Sea, the Sferisterio looks towards the seductive image of the East, the common thread of the 53rd opera season, staging from 21st July to 14th August 2017. The Sferisterio follows in Li Madou's footsteps (Father Matteo Ricci) the Jesuit who sailed from Macerata towards the Far East.

The three-year event "Mappedell’Anima"(Soul Maps), which began with "Nutrirel’anima” (Feeding the Soul) in the year of Expo and continued with “Mediterraneo”, ends with the season 2017. Among the latest news for next season is definitely the duo's directorial debut of Stefano Ricci and Gianni Forte in the opera theatre with the new production of Turandot (21 and 29 July, 4 and 13 August) opening the Festival. Ricci/Forte, a duo of contemporary directors, among the most appreciated for their extreme and innovative style.Pier Giorgio Morandi will be the leader of the Marche Philharmonic Orchestra. From China to Japan with Madama Butterfly (22 and 28 July, 6 and 12 August): the second new set scheduled and co-produced with the Theatre Massimo Palermo, made by the director Nicola Berloffa and making its debut in Macerata with the direction of Massimo Zanetti.Egypt, historical door between East and West, is the third stop of the trip with Aida (30 July, 5, 11 and 14 August) by Francesco Micheli, a remake of the show made on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary in co-production with the Municipal Theatre of Bologna, with the comeback of Riccardo Frizza on the podium of the Sferisterio.

Popsophia Festival
