Open Exhibition 2017

Number 8 is pleased to invite you to submit work for their Open Exhibition 2017. The exhibition will take place from Thursday 5 - Wed 25 October 2017at Number 8. This project is run by a steering group of professional artists and the Programme Manager of Number 8. A reception will take place on the evening of Friday 6 Octoberfor all successful exhibitors and guests.

Open Exhibition Criteria

  • You are able to submit up to two pictures. There is a handling charge applicable to your submission of £5 for one picture or £6 for two pictures.
  • Total payment must be sent with this form by the deadline. Cheques shouldbe made payable to ‘Number 8’. This payment is an administrative charge to cover the consideration of your submission and is non-refundable.
  • Pictures must be 2D and can be in any medium.
  • Please complete the Title, Medium, Price and Size categories
  • The Reject/Accept boxes are for Number 8’s use only. This form will be returned to you specifying whether any of your submissions have been accepted.
  • You must send aphotograph, or digital image on a CD or memory stick, of the pictures you’re submitting (not the actual picture) and number them according to how you complete the submission form.
  • Please state if a picture is not for sale in the ‘Price’ section.
  • You must send your completed form toOpen Exhibition,Number 8, High Street, Pershore, WR10 1BGwith an appropriate SAE.
  • Number 8 will return the assessed form with your slides or photographs after the submission deadline in the SAE provided.

If accepted you must ensure…

  • all pictures are framed and mirror plated (see sketch A)
  • all submitted pictures must be tagged (see sketch A)
  • suitable packaging/wrapping is provided for pictures so that when the exhibition is dismantled they can be packaged ready for collection

Pictures that do not fulfil these criteria or are inappropriately framed may still be rejected at the point of installation.

Note: With the limitations of space, certain pictures may be accepted but not hung. The committee’s decision is final.

Note: Every care is taken with pictures sent for exhibition but Number 8 will not be responsible for any loss or damage. Artists are strongly urged to insure their work against damage and theft.

If your picture is installed…

  • Number 8 will produce a written catalogue of all pictures on display.
  • Prizes will be awarded for the three pictures of special merit in the exhibition
  • Number 8 will handle the sale of pictures and pay the artist at the end of the exhibition minus 20% commission plus VAT.

The important dates…

  • The deadline for submissions is Mon 31 July, 11am.
  • You will be informed of the results of your submission by the end ofAugust.
  • Successful applicants will need to bring their actual framed and mirror-plated pictures to Number 8 onWednesday 4 October between 10am and3pm. The work must be appropriately wrapped and labelled. Packaging that is unlabelled will not be kept.
  • A celebratory drink and prizes reception for all successful exhibitors will take place onthe evening ofFriday 6 October.
  • Candidates must collect and wrap their pictures during dismantling on Wednesday 25Octoberbetween4pm - 6pm. Please note we reserve the right to charge a storage fee if work is not collected as stated.

Checklist

  • Have you numbered and enclosed the slides, photographs or digital images of your pictures?
  • Have you enclosed a SAE for the return of your images and assessed submission form?
  • Have you included a cheque for the handling fee?

Our Selection Process

We will undoubtedly receive more applications that we can accept so not all work will be successful. Selection will be made regarding the quality and diversity of work under consideration. Work may be rejected that is of sufficient quality but does not fit with the overall exhibition due to duplication of style or subject matter.

We will not consider work by artists who have had a solo exhibition at Number 8 in the past 12 months or have one booked later in 2017.

  • We will not consider individual pieces of work that have already been exhibited at the Number 8 gallery.
  • Pieces selected for the Open Exhibition will not be accepted for exhibition again at Number 8 within the next two years.
  • Submissions via email are not accepted.
