Financing for municipalities

1.(1)The following are the purposes for which the Ontario Municipal Economic Infrastructure Financing Authority may provide financing for municipalities:

1.To acquire, construct, erect, install, expand, refurbish, alter or repair any of the following:

i.Water works for clean water.

ii.Sewage works.

iii.Waste management systems.

iv.Highways that are under municipal jurisdiction.

v.Infrastructure for public transit systems.

vi.Infrastructure for tourism projects, cultural projects and recreation projects.

2.To acquire, replace or refurbish vehicles that are used for public transit.

6.To purchase real property that is used in or is incidental to an undertaking described in paragraph 1.

7.To refurbish or repair housing projects that, on or before August 20, 2004, were subject to the Social Housing Reform Act, 2000.

8.To acquire, construct, erect, renovate, extend, alter or make an addition to a home under the Homes for the Aged and Rest Homes Act. O.Reg. 109/03, s.1(1); O.Reg. 357/04, s.1; O.Reg. 433/05, s.1.

(2)In this section,

“highway” means a highway as defined in section 1 of the Municipal Act, 2001; (“voie publique”)

“install” includes install a structure that is made elsewhere or moved from elsewhere. (“mise en place”) O.Reg. 109/03, s.1(2).

Financing for universities

2.(1)The universities and other post-secondary educational institutions listed in Schedule 1 to this Regulation are specified as public bodies for the purposes of paragraph 1 of section 3 of the Act. O.Reg. 433/05, s.2.

(2)The following are the purposes for which the Authority may provide financing for the public bodies listed in Schedule 1:

1.To acquire, construct, erect, install, expand, refurbish, alter or repair any of the following:

i.Academic teaching facilities.

ii.Research facilities.

iii.Student residences.

iv.Daycare facilities.

v.Recreation and sport facilities.

2.To purchase real property that is used in, or is incidental to, an undertaking described in paragraph 1. O.Reg. 433/05, s.2.
