Every so often an opportunity presents itself that is truly inspiring. We are looking for a Marketing & Event Coordinator to provide all support and assistance necessary to facilitate and assist with the waterpark’s marketing effort. A “can-do” team-based approach will be needed to help open one this exciting new waterpark. This position offers the opportunity for professional development and a chance to grow with a progressive management company for the right person. The Marketing Coordinator is responsible for providing support to the marketing department and assisting with all phases of the property marketing programto reach targeted waterpark guests

Essential Position Responsibilities:

  • Able to open office, answer, and process phone calls, and work independently within the department maintaining an elevated level of customer service, promoting sales opportunities, and meeting all individual and department goals and guidelines.
  • Excellent computer skills required: Microsoft programs including Word, Publisher, Excel, and Outlook. Graphic specific programs such as; Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign etc.
  • Working knowledge of media placement for TV, Radio, and Print Publications. Able to analyze, comment on, and propose a marketing plan maintaining advertising budgets.
  • Assist with the copywriting and distribution of press releases and set up a press conference working with key media.
  • Ability to assist with annual property marketing plan and change plans accordingly as market dictates.
  • Ability to set and achieve action steps and goals as identified in the Marketing Plan.
  • Complete monthly and weekly action plans and adhere to them in the marketing efforts.
  • Create effective and prompt reports to determine the success of marketing efforts. Work closely with management on tracking of each program. Track and provide ROI for all marketing programs. Work directly with operations to create white sheets and tracking procedures.
  • Ability to negotiate positive contracts, beneficial trade agreements and advertising opportunities in all forms of media. Meet with local Advertising leads to discuss opportunities.
  • Ability to create collateral, flyers, and marketing brochures as needed for in-house projects. Ability to work with ad agencies in the creation, proofing, and overall facilitation of collateral pieces.
  • Ability to strongly and confidently present and sell ideas to an audience.
  • Assist in the implementation of marketing programs through radio, TV and print media advertising, direct mail, e-marketing, trade shows, print collateral, website, etc.
  • Coordinate and maintain all mail list and guest databases.
  • Update and maintain all artwork and resort photo library.
  • Compose, edit, and proofread reports and correspondence.
  • Maintain advertising files – correspondence, press releases, advertising, etc.
  • Assist in the planning, coordination, and implementation of all special events.
  • Place, monitor and update all web site listings related to the waterpark and waterpark activities, including the waterpark’s web site.
  • Create monthly calendars, weekly activity guides and other in-house marketing materials.
  • Support Event Manager and Activities Director in developing promotions for festivals & events
  • Track all marketing deadlines for production, distribution, and renewal. When presented to senior management for renewal, include past tracking of results and ROI.
  • Be knowledgeable of and assist with the preparation of various reports and other necessary business reporting functions that may arise.
  • Attends meetings, events, and programs on behalf of the management as needed.
  • Offer ideas, suggestions, and methods for improving the overall sales effort.
  • Conduct monthly competition surveys of Regional Waterpark rates.
  • Maintain annual Expense budget and projections of advertising expenses.
  • Develop a tracking system for brochure inventories and a delivery route schedule to ensure supply is available at distribution points.
  • Maintain annual school event and out date calendars.
  • Maintain an annual advertising calendar to ensure timely distribution of key marketing/advertising campaigns.

Position Specific Requirements, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Strong organizational and communication skills with attention to detail and follow up, along with exceptional proofreading, grammar, and copywriting skills.
  • Minimum 2-year marketing experience, preferably in an environment of similar size and scope.
  • Strong working knowledge of graphics and printing programs is required.
  • Expected work hours will be based on work load and business circumstances. Weekends, Evenings, and Holidays will be frequently required and are anticipated on a regular basis especially during peak seasons.
