~FAQs For Registration~

6.How much physical strength do I need?
A: You will need the physical strength to support children, as you will spend a full day with children playing in the park in this project. In addition, some hyperactive children tend to run suddenly, and some children in wheel chairs will need extra help from you.
9.What is “Door –to-door” support?
A: Some children have difficulty getting to the meeting place even if their family members accompany them. Therefore we will provide a full support system to enable all children to go to TDL. We recommend this program to those who would like to gain in-depth experience as well as those who have already had experience with physically challenged children.
10. What is the “All-by-myself” Group”?
A: We promote some special groups for children to gain theirexperience in society. In this project, more than one attendant (for instance, a child-care worker or a parent) accompanies the child and volunteers will support only when needed. We recommend that if you fall into one of the following criteria, you may want to participate in the All-by-myself Group.
If you already have an experience interacting with mentally challenged children,
if you would like to do advanced volunteering activities, and
if you want to support children to enhance their social development.
11. What is the “Volunteer’s Meeting”?
A: The Volunteer’s Meeting is scheduled to be held on Sat. May 15. 2004. We will outline the project and explain ways to communicate with children so that you may have a fulfilling day. Detailed information concerning the project will be sent by mail to you after Golden Week in May. New volunteers and those who have never interacted with challenged children are welcomed!
13. What is an “Accompanying volunteer”?
A: Most of the children will come to TDL by bus. Accompanying volunteers are those who pick up children, and take children back home by bus, because some children will need support on the bus. By the time you arrive at TDL, you can become friends with the children and have fun all day! The Meeting place in the morning of the day shall be arranged in accordance with the location of your home. Some volunteers will meet at TDL depending on the situation of the children.
14. What volunteering information is available from KIDS?
A: KIDS has actively held various projects throughout the year. KIDS has also received some information concerning volunteering work from other organizations. We will inform you of suchinformation through e-mail.
15. What does “receipt” mean?
A: We will issue a receipt to those who participate in KIDS project from their company and will settle the cost of participation with their company. If you need a receipt, please let us know theappropriate addressee and any other information which needs to be included in advance.
16. What do you mean by “specific group or institution” desired?
A: KIDS would like to act as a bridge between participants and children to assist in building continuous relationships. We would like participants with past experience to mention the group or institution name if you wish to have a continuous relationship.
