Online Fundraising

What is it? Fundraise online by starting a webpage and linking it to your

Facebook or Twitter. You also can directly email sponsors.

Why should I do it? It is easier to collect donations thanusing

a traditional fundraiser because you can do it at any time.

How do I sign up?Go to made one and it was

reallyeasy.

What does the website get out of this? They take 5% of each transaction

plus WePay (Paypal) takes 2.9%.

Tips

1. Email or call people you know directly. Long distance family members may not be able to come to your local carwash, but they can always donate online. Not everyone checks Facebook or Twitter on a regular basis.

2. Make sure to post pictures, videos, and a description of your cause on your website. Websites with a well-written back story seems more deserving.

3. Make sure to update your sponsors. People who have donated will want to know what happened to their money.

4. Repost your link on Facebook or Twitter on regular basis. Once and done is not enough. Students are not the only ones who need a few reminders.

5. The website had a lot of ideas from other people’s pages.

Summer Fundraising Opportunities

Bank car washes

  • Any Metro Bank in the area will allow you to use their facility to fundraise.
  • You must provide all materials for washing, they will provide only water.
  • I suggest doing this on your own because the amount of money made will strongly benefit students if it’s a smaller group (I suggest asking your family to do it with you so profits are per student)
  • You can organize a date (or several dates) at different facilities to maximize the earnings.
  • An adult must be present with students. Do not attempt to do this without parents.

Restaurant % nights

  • There are several nights already organized for next year to invite people to eat and we would get a profit.

R&K Sub sales at parent offices

  • R&K will allow you to sell subs 1x a month for them. If your parents work at a large office or can have access to a large office/work place, this could be a great money maker.
  • You can also sell at larger facilities (church etc.)

Summer job

  • Save a portion of your check to go toward the trip.

Community service

  • Put up signs in the community for services offered:
  • Older people would love help with yard work
  • House cleaning
  • Babysitting
  • Detailing cars

Donations from companies

  • I will place a donation type letter on my website that you can fill out and personalize to ask for donations (lawyers, doctors, companies).

Canning

  • Sonic will allow canning to take place as long as 10-15% of the profits go back to them. This could be organized by a family for a few hours.

Community meal

  • Spaghetti dinner (or anything of that nature) in community through churches etc.

If you have any other ideas that work feel free to contact me and I’ll share with the group.
