Training Takeaway

1.  First Time Manager/Supervisor Login – With a few exceptions due to insufficient length, your username will be the same as your LU username. Your username and password will be identical when you log in for the first time (Ex. username = jsmith / password = jsmith). You will be automatically prompted to change your password upon first login attempt.

If you try to login, and your account does not exist, please have your supervisor (Level 2 or 3) e-mail Human Resources at with the following information in the body of the e-mail:

·  Your LU username

·  Your LU user ID number

·  What level access you need [Level 1 or Level 2… not both]

·  Departmental Index Code(s) to which you need access [ex: 1D2000 or 1Q1003]

·  Your Liberty e-mail address

·  Any active posting numbers to which you need access if you are a Level 1 user

NOTE: E-mail requests missing the above information will not be processed.

2.  Paper Applications – HR no longer accepts or processes paper applications with the exception of GSA applications (which are remaining a paper-only application type). All employment applications from that date forward must come from the online application system in order to be valid for hiring. HR will NOT process any paper applications received after this date other than GSA applications.

3.  Open Posting Time Frame – All postings that are advertised on the LU website will only be posted for 30 days. Please do not pick the “Post until Filled” option. HR will automatically set all posting to a 30 day period unless otherwise specified. If you do not find a qualified applicant, you can send an e-mail request to HR to repost for an additional 30 day period. You may advertise for a shorter period of time if desired. You may also enter a future posting date for advertising to begin at a future date.

4.  Job Duties – The job duties entered for each job position are directly tied to the employee evaluation process that will take place throughout an employee’s career in that position. A minimum of 2 job duties is required for all positions.

5.  Background Checks – After changing an applicant’s status to “Background Check Requested”, standard processing time is 2-4 business days for HR to process and change the status to “Background Check Confirmed”. However, it may take up to 2 weeks for HR to fully process the background checks and change the status to “Background Check Confirmed” due to varying wait times to investigate issues and receive full background reports from the court system. Please check the status of your requests online every couple days to verify when they are cleared by HR.

6.  Federal Work Study Student Applications – Supervisors who would like information on a potential student’s Federal Work-Study eligibility are to contact Angela Travis in Financial Aid at 592-3442 or for assistance. Supervisors will need to specify the academic year of interest and provide the student’s ID number. Ms. Travis then can state if the student is or is not eligible for Work Study and for how much. The information may be provided to the supervisor immediately, but should be provided in no greater than 1 business day.
