Workshop on Development and Peace’snew At the Heart of the Action campaign!
Development and Peace is preparing to celebrate 50 years of solidarity! Come and discover the rich history of the organization and the impact of its mobilization campaigns in Canada and around the world since 1967. Take the opportunity to become a member, and write to the Prime Minister requesting action against climate change by increasing support to small family farmers in the Global South. On October 4, 2016, take action for peace in Syria
Through prayer and action, Development and Peace is joining forces with Caritas Internationalis as part of its Syria: Peace is Possible campaign. A [vigil or Dayof Prayer] will take place on [specify the date, HOUR and lOCATION]. We will gather to meditate around St.Francisof Assisi’s prayer “Lord, make meaninstrumentofyour peace,” and Caritas’ campaign prayer. If you have not already done so, please sign Development and Peace’s petition asking the Prime Minister to act for peace in Syria.

This fall, Development and Peace’s At the Heart of the Action campaign invites us to revisit highlights of the organization’s work over the last 50 years and to continue our commitment towards building a just world. When we act together, change is possible!

Over the last 50 years, Development and Peace has had many achievements: $600 million invested in 100 countries; 15,000 projects in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East; more than 3.5million signatures sent to the Canadian government for greater justice; committed members across the country working for change; and a worldwide presence through national and international networks, such as Kairos and Caritas. Join the movement! Take action for justice by becoming a member of Development and Peace or by signing the action card that will be distributed on [DATE]. Ask the Prime Minister to take action against climate change by showing greater support to small family farmers in the Global South , who are feeding and cooling the planet.

At the COP21, Canada committed to investing $2.65billion by 2020 to support countries of the Global South that are severely affected by climate change. While there are many ways to respond to climate change, we believe that agriculture must be at the heart of proposed solutions. Let’s support an agricultural model that enables these stewards of the earth to live in dignity and feed their communities in a way that respects our common home, the Earth.
