MSNBC'S MONICA CROWLEY PLACES
A LESSER VALUE ON THE LIVES OF
AN ALL VOLUNTEER MILITARY…
On MSNBC’s “CONNECTED: COAST TO COAST” News Program with Ron Reagan(self-described Democratic-Liberal and Son of former President Ronald Reagan), and Monica Crowley(self-described Republican-Conservative) which aired from 5:00-6:00 p.m., on Monday, August 22, 2005, both Reagan and Crowley were interviewing Singer and Anti-War Protestor Joan Baez. Baez went to Crawford, Texas to meet and join recently well-known Anti-War Protestor Cindy Sheehan whose Son died in the War in Iraq…
During Crowley’s interview with Baez, Crowley both expressed and implied that the Mothers and Fathers of the Men and Women of America's Armed Forces should not be demonstrating against the War regardless of whether their Sons or Daughters were Killed or Wounded-in-Action, or otherwise currently in danger while serving in the Military because they were not "Drafted" and knew the "risks of Volunteering" for Military Service...
Everyone who knows me well, or has read my Articles, knows that I am a strict “Constitutionalist” who strongly believes that everyone in America has the freedom to speak or write about fact or opinion without censorship, as is guaranteed under the First Amendment…
However, it should be duly noted that the First Amendment only Defends the right of people to express their views, not the views that they express. So I am sure that the Men and Women in the U.S. Armed Forces currently fighting America’s “War On Terror” and discharged Veterans everywhere, would like to know how Crowley can defend this view she expressed???
So now I will express my opinion and view about Crowley’s comments!!!
If CROWLEY thought about it a little more, she might have concluded that it is only because we have had an "All Volunteer Military" for more than 30-years that at least the Sons of America’s Parents have not been "required to serve.”
Older Veterans from WW2 through the Gulf-War of 1991, already know that Veterans have been treated like “2nd Class Citizens" by Our Government and some of the American People regardless of whether they had been “Drafted” or “Volunteered”…
At least to me, Crowley’s comments and others who share her view of placing a “lesser value"on the lives of the Men and Women of America’s “All Volunteer Armed Forces” than they did our previously older veterans who were “Drafted” into Military Service…lead me to believe that recently discharged Veterans, and Veterans discharged in the future, should prepare themselves to be treated like “3rd Class Citizens”…
Of course if it was Crowley's Son or Daughter or other close-relative killed or wounded-in-action, or Crowley herself was serving in a War Zone, one wonders if Crowley would say the same thing or feel the same way???
