Olentangy Orange Men’s Soccer Booster Club Bylaws

ArticleI. Name

The name of this organization shall be the OOHS Men’s Soccer Booster Club

Article II. Purpose

The purpose of the Booster Club is as follows:

  • To support and provide encouragement for the OOHS Men’s Soccer Team
  • To provide a positive and comfortable interaction between the Booster Club, School Officials, Coaching Staff, Student Body and the Community
  • To engage in volunteer opportunities, fundraising opportunities and other activities of OOHS that the Booster Club believes are appropriate
  • To promote a positive image of all OOHS athletic activities to the community
  • To support any other school activities that the Booster Club believes are appropriate

Article III. Conduct

All Booster Club activities will be conducted in accordance with OHSAA guidelines, OLSD guidelines and Federal, State, and local laws.

Article IV. Membership

Membership in the Booster Club will be open to any individual interested in promoting the OOHS Men’s Soccer Team. Membership entitles the individual to one (1) vote in Booster Club business, including but not limited to electing board officers.

Article V. Officers

The Olentangy Orange Men’s Soccer Booster ClubBoardwill consist of the following: President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer

  • All board members will be elected at an annual meeting in May, June, or July
  • All newly appointed board members will be required participants for meetings following election to ensure a smooth transition into the role
  • If a member of the board should resign, the position will be filled by revote after a nomination is made by the remaining board members
  • Board members can be removed for misconduct or neglect of duty by majority vote of present members without notice of the vote
  • Elected board members should be as follows:

Freshmen Parent (1)

Sophomore Parent (1)

Junior Parent (1)

Parent from any grade (1)

(In the event that there are no players from a certain class (grade) the board member will be replaced by a parent of another class.)

Article VI. Officer Duties

President:

The President shall preside over the meetings of the Booster Club. He/She shall supervise all activities of the Booster Club, including determining the meeting schedule and calling emergency meetings, if necessary. He/She should maintain records for the previous years activities and volunteer opportunities and give input to the chair persons of volunteer opportunities, as needed. He/She will oversee the membership and verify that members are following the bylaws.

Vice President:

The Vice President assists the President with his/her duties and presides over the meeting when the President is unable to lead. He/She is the main liaison to the OOHS Main Booster Organization.

Secretary:

The secretary shall record the minutes of all meetings of the Booster Club and distribute to the members. He/She shall issue notices of meetings and agendas, and assist the Vice President, when needed.

Treasurer:

The treasurer shall be the custodian of the funds of the OOHS Men’s Soccer Booster Club. He/She is the main contact to the treasurer of the OOHS Main Booster Organization and verifies that monies are added and deducted from the fund correctly. He/she organizes the collection of fees and monies and keeps a record of all receipts and expenditures. He/She presents the Booster Clubs balances at the meetings and reports the transfers of monies into and out of the fund.

Article VII. Amendments

These bylaws may be amended with a favorable majority vote by the members in attendance. Any proposed amendment will be read at one meeting and voted on in the next, so it can be verified to be in compliance with OHSAA guidelines, OLSD guidelines and Federal, State, and local laws.

Article VIII. Fundraising Guidelines

All fundraising opportunities must be approved by the OOHS Main Booster Organization before the fundraising activity is held.

All fundraising opportunities must be in compliance with OHSAA guidelines, OLSD guidelines and Federal, State, and local laws.

All fundraising opportunities should support the goals of the OOHS/OLSD and should not exploit the students.

Article IX. Member Duties

Member duties shall be performed to support to the OOHS Men’s Soccer Team and are assigned as follows:

  • Each junior parent (at least one per player) must be in charge of a volunteer opportunity.

(In the event that there is no volunteer one will be assigned by the board or a decision will be made in conjunction with the coaching staff#.)

  • Each sophomore and freshman parent (at least one per player) must sign up to assist in a volunteer opportunity.

(In the event that there are no volunteers one or more will be assigned by the board or a decision will be made in conjunction with the coaching staff#.)

  • It is the responsibility of the volunteer in charge to organize other volunteers and ultimately, the event.
  • All parents are highly encouraged to sign up to assist in a volunteer opportunity.

(By not signing up for a volunteer opportunity is stating that you are willing to help with any volunteer opportunity.)

  • In the case where there are not enough volunteers to perform a fund raising opportunity the board, along with the coaching staff#, reserve the right to cancel the opportunity and increase the non-school related pay to play fees to cover the seasonal costs up to a maximum of $500.
  • Members can be removed for misconduct or neglect of duty by majority vote

# Coaches should serve in an advisory capacity to the booster club and should not have control or authority over booster club funds. Wish lists should be approved by the board prior to allocating funds.
