WHO CAN APPLY?

The applicant must be a current high school senior.

The applicant must be planning to attend a community college, college, or university on a full time basis beginning in the fall of this year.

The applicant must have played a minimum of 1 year on a Chesterfield Youth Softball AssociationLeague Team.

The applicant will submit a completed application form to the Chesterfield Youth Softball AssociationLeague - Scholarship Committee Postmarked no later than 3/16/18.

Part VII - SCHOLARSHIP DETAILS

The Chesterfield Youth Softball AssociationLeague determines the scholarship recipients – Scholarship Committee based on applicant participation in the CYSA, academic performance, and community service. Only completed applications, (those that include a verified GPA, a copy of the most recent report card, and an essay of 250 words or less) postmarked no later than 3/16/18 will be considered for the scholarship award.
The Scholarship will be paid directly to the applicant by the Chesterfield Youth Softball AssociationLeague to be used as needed by the winning applicants. This is a one-time only scholarship award. Written notification will be mailed by April 7th to all applicants informing them of their status (winners and non-winners).

Part VIII – Grading

2018 Chesterfield Youth Softball Association (CYSA) Post High School Educational Scholarship Program.
Eligibility: Any girl who has participated for at least one season in CYSA and will be obtaining post high school education. Accepted programs include colleges, universities, and accredited trade schools.
Awards will be presented to the highest ranked applicants:
1 - $1000.00 – Belcher/Burrell Memorial Scholarship
2 - $750.00 – Ray Marshall & Wally Smith Memorial Scholarships
1 - $500.00 – Greg Curtis Memorial Scholarship
1 - $250.00 – President’s Scholarship
Applicants will be ranked on a scale of zero to one hundred points. The points will be scored by the following:
0 - 26 Points CYSA Participation. Two points per year applicant participated in CYSA.
0 - 25Points for community service, which benefited others. Applicants will be awarded five points for every one hundred hours of service.
0 – 25Points based on GPA.

0 – 24 Points Based on a, minimum of 250 words, composition written by the applicant in response to pre selected question. A three-member committee will review the composition and they will award one to six points each after reviewing compositions. The total of the committee members’ scores will be used. Composition will be reviewed for grammatical correctness, originality, and content.
Winners should be present at the 2018 season opening ceremony on Saturday April 14th, 2018 and will be recognized during the ceremonies. Applicants who will be awarded scholarships will be notified by April 7, 2018. Awards will be given to the winners once they present a paid registration or a letter of acceptance for the institution they plan to attend to the CYSA treasurer.
(CYSA reserves the right to increase/decrease the number or value of awards depending on the number and quality of the applicants.)
