AGES: Separate tournaments for Boys teams in grades 4, 5,6,7,8

LOCATIONS, TIMES, NUMBER OF TEAMS:

  • 4th: OkobojiElementary School & OkobojiHigh School – Milford
  • All teams will play their first game at one of the following times – 830 AM, 915 AM, 1000 AM, or 1045 AM; over by 400 PM
  • 8 team bracket
  • 5th: OkobojiHigh School – Milford
  • All teams will play their first game at 930 AM or 1015 AM, over by 200 PM
  • 8 team bracket
  • 6th: OkobojiHigh School – Milford
  • All teams will play their first game at 245 PM or 330 PM, over by 715 PM
  • 8 team bracket
  • 7th: Okoboji Middle School – Arnolds Park & Okoboji High School – Milford
  • All teams will play their first game at 930 AM or 1015 AM, over by 200 PM
  • 8 team bracket
  • 8th: OkobojiMiddle School – ArnoldsPark & OkobojiHigh School – Milford
  • All teams will play their first game at 200 PM or 245 PM, over by 630 PM
  • 8 team bracket

INFORMATIONAL SHEET

  1. It should be clearly understood that participating teams/coaches are assuming all risks of injuries that may occur in this tournament and shall not hold Great Lakes Basketball, Ryan Paulsen, or Okoboji Schools or any agents, players, officials, or workers affiliated with the tournament responsible for any injury incurred.
  2. All rosters and entry fees must be turned in before the tournament begins.
  3. There will be two 16-minute continuous clock halves. The clock will stop the last 2 minutes of the first half on all whistles and the last 2 minutes of the second half on all whistles if the game is within 10 points. If the margin is greater than 10, the clock will not stop the last 2 minutes of the second half.
  4. Teams will receive two 60-second time-outs per game. One additional 60-second time-out will be granted for each overtime period and time-outs will carry over to the next overtime.
  5. The first overtime will last 2 minutes – clock stopping on all whistles.
  6. The second overtime will be sudden death – first team to score 2 points.
  7. All technical fouls and intentional fouls will result in an automatic 2 points for the other team plus the ball out of bounds.
  8. All referee decision will be final! No protests will be honored.
  9. Coaches: please supervise your athletes. Thank you in advance for your attention to this matter.
  10. Locker-rooms will not be open.
  11. Teams are responsible for their own valuables. Great Lakes Basketball or OkobojiSchools and agents affiliated with the tournament will not be held responsible for stolen/lost articles.
  12. Players may only play for 1 team – and they may play up a grade, but not down.
  13. If the tournament is canceled, half the entry fee will be refunded. The other half will be kept to cover costs.
  14. Teams must supply their own practice balls.
  15. Teams must have the same color jerseys and each jersey must have a number on the back.
  16. Halftime will be 3 minutes in length.
  17. There will be 5 minutes between games.
  18. Teams should be ready to play 15 minutes ahead of scheduled game time. If we get ahead of schedule, we will try to stay ahead.
  19. Teams may full-court press up to a 15-point lead in grades 5 through 8. No full court press in 4th grade.
  20. 3 point shots will be allowed.
  21. Zone defense will be allowed in grades 5 through 8. No zone defense in 4th grade.
  22. Individuals will be allowed 6 fouls.
  23. We will use the following rules for shooting free-throws:
  24. And 1 Opportunities: basket counts plus 1 free-throw. If that free-throw is made, it is worth 1 point.
  25. Any foul on a 2 point or 3 point shot:1 free-throw will be shot. If it was a 2 point shot attempted, that free-throw is worth 2 points if made. If it was a 3 point shot attempted, that free-throw is worth 3 points if made.
  26. 7thteam foul and on each half:1 free-throw worth 2 points (unless it was a foul on a 3 point shot; then the made free-throw will be worth 3 points).
  27. With a continuous clock, we are only shooting 1 free-throw so that more time can be spent playing instead of standing at the free-throw line/lane waiting for 2 free-throws to be shot.
  28. Awards will be granted to the first place team in each grade – 12 per grade.
  29. NO ALL STAR TEAMS will be allowed!
  30. Teams must be made up of players from 1 school district. Teams from a big city/metropolitan area – players must be from 1 school building.

  32. There will be concessions available – please refrain from bringing in outside food and beverages.
  33. Each team will be guaranteed 3 games.
  34. Admission will be charged for spectators:
  35. ADULTS: $5
  36. K-12 STUDENTS: $3
  37. PRESCHOOL AND YOUNGER: Free
