RE:ODYS Training Partnership
We are pleased to announce that beginning this past January 2008 the Department began accepting requests from Ohio’s Juvenile Detention Facilities to participate in training opportunities at our TrainingAcademy.
The Department will make the Annual Training Catalogue and registration forms available for all of Ohio’s Community Corrections professionals thru the associations’ websites.
To further enhance our training partnership, we have established a Training Advisory Committee that includes members from ODYS, The Ohio Supreme Court and representatives from each of the associations. This advisory committee will assist in creating a continuum of training for all of Ohio’s Juvenile Community Facilities. The overarching goal is to provide valuable training at all levels for our staff: new line staff orientation, “Train the Trainer” for sites, new manager orientation, and continuing education for both staff and management at all levels. We look forward to this exciting prospect of improving how we work together to serve both our staff and the youth of Ohio.
If you have staff that you would like to register for the training, please email Kim Humphrey and John Ward with the names of staff you would like to attend, listing them in your priority. Have them complete and submit the registration form to the training Academy via fax at 740-881-8005. Simply omit any information listed on the form that does not apply to community staff. The costs associated with the training (ie: hotel accommodations) are the responsibility of the sending facility. Currently, there is no charge for a facility to attend the Academy courses. We would ask that a site provide 10 days advance notice if a registrant is unable to attend a registered training event as there are a limited number of slots available for each course.
