South Euclid-Lyndhurst Schools student documentary video goes statewide

South Euclid-Lyndhurst City’s AVTV Productions served as the official student video documentary team for the 2010 Ohio School Boards Association Capital Conference, Nov. 7-10, in Columbus. Based at Charles F. Brush High School, AVTV Productions is the district’s media productions department and is composed of students in grades nine through 12. OSBA selected the student team to document the conference based on the outstanding video work it submitted.

The AVTV team, led by instructor Michael Bubnow, conducted interviews and filmed different events during the conference. Among those the students interviewed were Gov. Ted Strickland, Ohio Superintendent of Public Instruction Deborah S. Delisle, OSBA President John Pennycuff and South-Euclid-Lyndhurst City Schools Superintendent Dr. William Zelei.

The video team edited the hours of footage it shot into a 10-minute documentary that is being streamed on the OSBA website at http://links.ohioschoolboards.org/31013. OSBA also is sharing the documentary with other state school boards associations and using it to promote the conference.

The OSBA video documentary project gives students the opportunity to document OSBA’s statewide conference, which draws over 10,000 public education leaders from across Ohio.

AVTV records many school district events — sports games, award ceremonies, concerts, student news shows and much more — that air on local Time Warner channel 22. Students gain valuable skills in teamwork and creativity on high-end equipment that is similar to what many TV stations use. They learn how to work in a professional environment and develop many skills beyond what they might learn in a classroom.

OSBA leads the way to educational excellence by serving Ohio’s public school board members and the diverse districts they represent through superior service and creative solutions.
