Application for All-day, Every-day Kindergarten Waiver

2010-2011 School Year

Introduction

In accordance with Section 3321.05 (A)(B)(D) of the Ohio Revised Code beginning with the 2010-2011 school year, all school districts shall provide all-day, every-day kindergarten services to all students. All-day, every-day kindergarten means “a class that is in session five days per week for not less than the same number of clock hours each day as for students in grades one through six.”

The waiver application must be submitted to the Ohio Department of Education (ODE) unless all-day, every-day kindergarten will be provided to all children during the 2010-2011 school year. Only traditional public school districts seeking a waiver from providing all-day, every-day kindergarten need to complete the waiver application. Districts planning on providing all-day, every-day kindergarten in 2010-2011 do not need to complete a waiver application or notify ODE. Waiver applications will be reviewed as they are received. ODE will notify the school district superintendent of approval or denial of their waiver application via e-mail.

Should you have any questions regarding the waiver application, please contact or 614-995-9974.

The waiver should be submitted to ODE in hard copy form by US mail to:
