OFFICIAL COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS
A Regularmeeting of the City Council of the City of Menomonie, Dunn County, Wisconsin, was held in open session on September 18, 2017, and called to order by Mayor Knaackat 7:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers. The following members were present: Luther, Traxler, Sutherland, Sweeny, Merrill, Solberg, Cruz, Erdman, and Sommerfeld. Cook and Schwebs were absent.
MOTION made bySweeny, seconded byMerrill, and carried to approve the minutes of the regular meeting held on September 5, 2017.
PUBLIC HEARING – None
PUBLIC COMMENTS –Helen Smalley spoke to address the City policy regarding deer hunting. She wanted to know what has been done to reduce the deer herd. She also felt that the City should publicize the Rules and Regulations for hunting in the City and also publicize the rules and regulations and penalties associated with feeding deer in the City.
MOTION made by Merrill, seconded by Erdman, and carried unanimously on a roll call vote to award the bid for the 2017 Sidewalk Improvement Project to Pember Companies with a change order eliminating the Stout Rd sidewalk schedule for a total of $30,113.62.
MOTION made by Cruz, seconded by Traxler, and carried to continue the City’s deer herd control hunt through 2018.
MOTION made by Solberg, seconded by Merrill, and carried to approve Plat No: 7600-01-04 and the associated Relocation Order.
MOTION made by Luther, seconded by Sweeny, and carried to approve the Big Brothers Big Sisters kickball tournament special even request in Wakanda Park on October 7, 2017.
BUDGET TRANSFER – None
MAYOR’S REPORT – Mayor Knaack announced that the Great Community Cookout had a terrific turn out on September 14, 2016. He also updated the Council on the New Bike/Pedestrian Bridge over I-94 and the traffic detours as a result of the project. The Mayor also reminded everyone of the Bridge to Hope open house on September 19 from 4 pm to 7 pm.
COMMUNICATIONS AND MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS –Cruz gave the Council an update on the Sister City celebration planned for this year and shared the draft agenda. Cruz stated we are looking for volunteers from the Council to help with the events.
