Tulare-Kings Section FFA

Officer Responsibilities

President:

  1. Preside over all meetings.

Serve as San Joaquin Regional FFA Vice President

  1. Appoint committees and serve as an ex-officio member of the committees
  2. Represent the section at special occasions.
  3. Communicate with the Tulare Kings San Joaquin Region Vice President

Vice President:

  1. Preside over meetings in the absence of the president
  2. Assist the president in conducting meetings
  3. Preside over the sections committees

Secretary:

  1. Prepare and read minutes and reports
  2. Attend to official correspondences of the section
  3. Keep a member roll of the chapters within the section

Treasurer:

  1. Keep and accurate record of receipts and expenses
  2. Prepare regular financial reports
  3. Assist in developing the sectional budget

Reporter:

  1. Encourage all chapters to submit news articles and public information announcements to their local news media and to the Regional Reporter so that it can be submitted to the New Horizon’s Magazine

Sentinel:

1. Assist in conduction of the meetings

2.Arrange the meeting room and displaying the appropriate paraphernalia

3.Greet guests and carry out other duties as assigned by the president

REGION VICE PRESIDENT OF TULARE KINGS:

  1. Serve as an ex-officio member on the sectional team
  2. Assist the officer team in the running of the section
  3. Will serve as a liaison to the section
  4. Be present at all sectional activities and meetings

Tulare-Kings Section FFA Constitution

Article I: Name and Purpose of the Organization

Section A:The name of the organization shall be the Tulare-Kings Section FFA. This section is composed of tenfive chapters and is a member of the San Joaquin Region of the FFA.

Section B:The primary aim of the Tulare-Kings Section FFA is the development of agricultural leadership, cooperation, and citizenship.

Article II:Organization

Section A:The following chapters are members of the Tulare-Kings Section:

1.Avenal

2.Corcoran

3.Hanford

4.Lemoore

5.Orosi

6.Visalia-El Diamante

7.Visalia-Golden West

8.Visalia-Mt. Whitney

9.Visalia-Redwood

10.Visalia-VTEC

Article III:Membership

Section A:Each active chapter in this section shall be titled to two (2) voting delegates.

Section B: Sectional officers will be eligible to vote, unless there is a tie, in which the president will cast one vote to break a tie.

Article IV:Officers

Section A:The officers of the section shall be: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Reporter, Sentinel, Regional Vice President (Ex-Officio) and Advisor.

Section B:The election of officers shall be by secret ballot.

Section C: Only chapters having at least one (1) voting delegate at the spring regional meeting may be represented on the sectional officer team, beginning in the year 2003.

Section D:= Sectional officer candidates must have participated in at least 50% of the sectional activities the year preceding election; to be verified by the chapter advisor, beginning in the 2014 sectional election..

Section E:The advisor shall be the chapter advisor of the school that has the section president.

Section F:All elected officers shall hold the office for one (1) year after election or until their successors are elected, unless removed from officer for violation of the “FFA Code of Ethics,” failure to maintain a 2.0 GPA, or failure to attend 2 or more sectional FFA required activities. All vacancies may be filled by the president until the next regular meeting, where a replacement officer will be elected by majority vote. All chapters in the section shall be notified of this vacancy prior to the meeting and may submit one candidate for the special election.

Section G:Sectional officer applications will be due to each chapter advisor, by the date set by the sectional advisor and team. Applications will be reviewed by Ag Teachers in the section to determine if each candidate is qualified (GPA, incomplete application, etc.

Section H: Elections

1)Officer candidate interviews will be conducted by the current sectional officer team and both the current and incoming sectional advisors one month prior to the election meeting.

2)Officer candidates will be selected and slated for offices determined by the current sectional officer team.

3)Only two candidates per office will be slated, totaling twelveten (1210).

4)Any member not slated may be nominated to run “off the floor” on the Election Day provided they have participated in the interviews prior to elections.

5)Candidates not selected for office may slide to a lower office of election only once.

6)The President (Vice President of the Region for Tulare Kings Section) is selected during the Spring Regional FFA Meeting and is subject to regional election rules. The Vice President of the Region for Tulare Kings Section will serve as an Ex-Officio Officer.

7)Officer candidates will give no longer than a two minute speech at the election meeting and will not be allowed to use props of any kinds (i.e. posters, pictures, other materials, ect.) Additionally, no promotional materials of any kind, by any person, may be used prior to the elections or at the election meeting (i/e. buttons, email, posters, flyers, social media, etc.). Candidates may be available one hour prior to the election meeting for introductions and discussion. Any candidate who does not follow these rules, knowingly or not, will be removed from the ballot prior to the election or from the officer team if a problem is discovered at a later time.

Section I:A maximum of 2 officers per chapter shall be represented on the sectional officer team. A chapter may submit 2 candidate applications to the section to be interviewed. If there are less than 15 members total that submit applications to be a sectional officer, then there may be more than 2 officers that are from the same chapter on the sectional officer team.

Article V:Meetings

Section A:Meetings shall be called by the president at regular intervals to conduct business.

Article VI:Dues

Section A:Annual dues will be determined by the executive committee, with delegate approval. Dues will be collected in the treasury falls below $200 by the treasurer immediately following their assessment.

Section B:Failure to pay section dues will be just cause for placing a chapter on the non-active list.

Article VII:Active Participation

Section A:Chapters are considered active when their sectional dues have been paid to the Sectional Treasurer if dues are assessed that year.

Section B:All active chapters are entitles to all voting privileges and rights to participate in all activities conducted by the section.

Section C:All chapters that are non-active lose all rights to participate in activities conducted by the section until they have regained their active status.

Article VIII:Procedure

Section A:Parliamentary Procedure used in all meetings will be in accordance with Robert’s Rules of Order.

Article IX:Amendments

Section A:Proposed amendments to this constitution of the Tulare-Kings Section of Future Farmers of America for adoption shall be submitted in writing to the executive committee for consideration. After reviewing the proposed amendments the executive committee will send a copy to each chapter prior to the next sectional meeting. At the next regular meeting, following the completion of the above acts, the proposed amendments shall be presented to the voting delegation.

Section B:Amendments to this constitution may be adopted by two-thirds (2/3) vote of the voting delegates present at any regular or special meeting.
