Press Release

03-19-2015

On Thursday March 19, 2015 at approximately 7:27 PM Sgt. Christopher Shaw and Officer Matthew Estes of the Augusta, Maine Police Department arrested DANIEL P. COLBY JR. (age 32), whose last known address was the Bradford Road in Wiscasset, on warrants obtained by Cpl. Aaron Skolfield of the Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Office.

The warrants stemmed from a March 17, 2015 incident at a residence located at 723Mountain Road in Woolwich. The resident called police after he answered a knock at his door and the suspect (COLBY) barged in with a handgun and threatened the residence with his life. After making the threat COLBY ran from the residence and eluded capture by several police agencies until this evening. The resident, who is familiar with COLBY, did not sustain any physical injuries. At this point in time it appears the incident involves a dispute amongst friends and family members. The case is still under investigation.

Colby is in custody and has been transported to Two Bridges Regional Jail where he awaits arraignment on the following charges:

1.  Burglary Class A

2.  Criminal Threatening Class C

3.  Possession of a firearm by a prohibited person Class C

This capture and investigation would not have been possible without the joint efforts of the Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Office, the Augusta Police Department, The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, The Wiscasset Police Department, and the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.
