RESIDENTIAL SCHOOL MODULE INFORMATION SHEET (2013)

B830 Making a Difference

Aim
This residential school provides the opportunity for you to work creatively and productively with a group of other B830 students and a dedicated tutor in a non-threatening environment. The school takes place as students move into the self-managed part of the module and are planning their Evidence Based Initiative. Its key role is therefore to help students with this transition.

The B830 Guide contains some general information about the school. There is also a Residential School Booklet on the website which gives fuller details of the school; it also sets out essential preparation work that students need to undertake in advance and includes an outline timetable of activities.

The school runs over three days. There are no ‘teaching sessions’. The work of the school is based almost entirely around the management issues and proposals which student brings to the school. Students work on their individual issues in a sequence of small group sessions and activities throughout the three days. By the end of the school, each student should leave with a clearer idea of key aspects of the management initiative which he/she has to undertake during the rest of the module and be well placed to produce the proposal they have to submit as TMA02.

Coping with the school
There are no fieldwork activities or visits for this school.
