Notifications Guidance

January 2018

If you are a business that manufactures, imports or distributes electrical or electronic equipment and have a reason to believe that some or all of the products you are responsible for may not comply with the RoHS Regulation, then you must meet certain obligations.

These include contacting the Market Surveillance Authorities of the Member States where the product is available, informing the distributors or end users of the product(s), taking remedial action to bring the product(s) into compliance and ensuring future product(s) comply.

Failure to comply with these requirements could constitute a criminal offence.

Further information on these obligations can be found in our RoHS Guidance Booklet, available on our website

Once you become aware of non-compliance, you should notify the relevant authority immediately.

The United Kingdom Market Surveillance Authority for the RoHS Regulations is BEIS Office for Product Safety and Standards.
