Job Title: External Affairs Coordinator
Reports to: SVP External Affairs Date: August 2016
Job Purpose: To assist the Senior Vice President of External Affairs with event production and execution, social media strategies, communications as well as support the efforts of internal departments as needed to include but not limited to media relations, public affairs and investor relations.
This role works with the Senior Vice President of External Affairs to achieve organizational goals and objectives determined by the larger Georgia Chamber strategic planning process.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists with event planning and execution.
- Assists in tracking event revenues and expenses.
- Schedules event talent, including musicians, presenters, bands etc.
- Coordinates and monitors event timelines and ensures deadlines are met.
- Prepares External Affairs presentations.
- Coordinates event logistics, including registration and attendee tracking.
- Coordinates sponsorship information, communications and marketing.
- Assists with updating and managing social media presence as directed.
- Drafts original content for social media and the website.
- Drafts monthly media and digital reports.
- Handles media requests for information and inquiries as directed.
- Distributes media advisories, press releases, program updates, images and photo captions to appropriate media representatives as directed.
- Assists with press conferences, interviews, and photo sessions as needed.
- Assists with managingevents, marketing and communications projects as assigned by the Senior Vice President of External Affairs.
- Assists with special projects as needed.
- Must be willing to support the Georgia Chamber’s vision, mission and values.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Event planning or other related filed.
- Demonstrated strong verbal and written communications skills
- Ability to think strategically and creatively
- Excellent copywriting and proofreading skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet assigned deadlines
- Strong knowledge of the event planning, communications, marketing, digital media and public relations industries
- Ability to be comfortable working in an intense, quick changing environment
- Must be a team player and possess the ability to work well with others
- Strong research and organizational skills
- Must be proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Social/Digital media communications
- Must have high integrity and maintain confidentiality
COMPENSATION:
- Salary range is set at $35,000-$40,000 annually
- Performance-based structure for salary increases and bonus incentives
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, one-hour lunch (flex hours available)
