The Regular Board of Education Meeting was conducted at the Odessa High School Media Center beginning at 7:00 p.m.

The following members were present: Aaron Dillon, President; Brian Young, Vice President; Tahnami Gittinger; John King, Brian Madsen, Ronnie Steelman and Tim Wulfekotter.

FIRST ORDER OF BUSINESS:

·  Approval of Meeting Agenda (Vote 7-0)

·  Approval of Consent Agenda Items (Vote 7-0)

·  Approval of Certified Election Results (Vote 7-0)

·  Board Recognition for John King (No Action)

BOARD REORGANIZATION

·  New Board Members (Henry Grubb and Brian Madsen) Sworn into Office (No Action)

·  Aaron Dillon elected as Board President (Vote 6-0-1)

·  Brian Young elected as Board Vice President (Vote 6-0-1)

REPORTS: (No Action)

·  Vice President, Brian Young, read the Board of Education communication.

·  The Academic Focus segment featured the Odessa Upper Elementary “Fifth Grade Solar System Project.”

·  Superintendent Brinkley provided information on the Tenth Annual Odessa R-VII Public Foundation Gala which will be conducted on April 20, 2013.

·  Superintendent Brinkley provided information on the Twentieth Annual Spring Fling which will be conducted on April 26, 2013.

·  Superintendent Brinkley provided an overview of the monthly administrative building reports.

·  Superintendent Brinkley provided an overview of the monthly financial/budget update.

·  Superintendent Brinkley provided information on the district’s Distinction in Performance Award received for the 2012-2013 School Year

CURRENT BUSINESS:

·  The Board of Education approved the Bond Refinance Declaration. (Vote 7-0)

·  The 2013-2014 Student, Staff and Activities Handbooks were presented for a “first reading.” (No Action)

·  The Board of Education approved the 2013-2014 Child Care Handbook and Rates. (Vote 7-0)

·  The Board of Education approved the 2013 Summer School Session Application/Budget. (Vote 7-0)
