This competition is intended to prepare and encourage

riders to take part in One Day Eventing. It is strictly for

beginners and genuine Novice partnerships and those new to eventing.. Winning or being placed at this event

does NOT upgrade competitors from Novice Status.

Location: Smallwood Livery Centre is situated 1 mile off the A534 approx 4 miles from Sandbach and 3 miles from Congleton. If accessing from Junction 17 of the M6 head east on the A534 towards Congleton. Go straight over traffic lights where A534 crosses A50. Approx 1 mile after lights take right turn signposted Smallwood & Brookhouse Green (also PC sign). Keep on this lane for approx 1 mile and look out for xc course on left.

CLASS 4 IS OPEN TO RIDING CLUB/NON PC MEMBERS OF ANY AGE. ALL OTHER CLASSES ARE ONLY OPEN TO PONY CLUB MEMBERS

CLASS 1 8 & Under – Beginners lead rein Dressage & Show jumping

Dressage - Pony Club D level 1 Dressage Test (Walk & Trot only) Test can be commanded, (called). Show jumping – will not exceed 50cms (ALL WELCOME!)

CLASS 2* (P.C 80) Height of fences: approx – 80cms (XC & SJ)

PC members any age not to have represented their branch at Area Novice or above in Show Jumping or Eventing. Branches can indicate teams as a practice for the Regional Championship qualifier. Members to enter directly then teams may be submitted to by the District Commissioner.

CLASS 3 (P.C 80) Height of fences: approx – 80cms (XC & SJ)

PC members any age, the combination not to have represented their branch at Area Novice or above in Show Jumping or Eventing (Ideal for new combinations and young horses).

CLASS 4 (P.C 80) Height of fences: approx – 80cms (XC & SJ)

Open to RC/Non PC members. Evidence of third party insurance must be shown.

Classes 2 – 4 Dressage Test – Pony Club Grassroots Dressage Test 2016 Test cannot be commanded, (called)

CLASS 5 Height of fences: approx – 70cms (XC & SJ)

- PC members 13 years & under – Never to have completed a One Day Event.

CLASS 6 - Height of fences: approx – 70cms (XC & SJ)

PC members 13 years & under – Never placed 1st – 4th in a One Day Event

Classes 5 & 6 Dressage – Pony Club Grassroots Dressage Test 2016. Test can be commanded, (called)

CLASS 7 Height of fences: approx 60cms (XC & SJ)

PC members 10 years & under – Never to have completed a One Day Event.

CLASS 8 – Height of fences: approx 60cms (XC & SJ)

PC members 10 years & under – Never placed 1st – 4th in a One Day Event

CLASS 9 - (training class) Height of fences: approx 60cms (XC & SJ)

PC members 10 years & under – Never to have completed a One Day Event. XC can have assistance.

Classes 7 – 9 Dressage Test – Pony Club Introductory Dressage Test 2007. Test can be commanded, (called)

This event is run under 2017 Pony Club Eventing Rules. All Riding Club members/ non PC riders must have 3rd party liability insurance cover. Beta Level 3 (2009) Body protectors are compulsory & medical armbands recommended for XC phase

Entry Fee for all ODE classes: £46.50 (plus £3.50 First Aid charge per rider). (£36.50 CHNPC members + 1st Aid charge).

Class 1 entry fee – £25.00 (plus £3.50 First Aid charge per rider). CHNPC members - £17.50 (+ 1st aid charge)

CLASS 1 Rosette and prize to highest placed CHNPC member.

Rosettes and prizes to the first 6 competitors.

Rosette and prize awarded to best dressage.

CLASS 2 - 6 Rosettes and prizes to the first 6 competitors in each class, (PC & RC/non PC).

Rosette and prize to best CHNPC member in each P.C class.

Rosette and prize awarded to best dressage in each class.

Class 2* only – team rosettes to third place. Prizes for first place team.

CLASS 7 & 8 Rosettes and prizes to the first 6 competitors in each class.

Rosette and prize to best CHNPC member in each class.

Rosette and prize to best 10 & under in each section.

Rosette and prize awarded to best dressage in each class.

Class 9 Special rosette to each competitor. Rosette & prize for best dressage.

ALL PRIZEGIVINGS WILL BE UNMOUNTED AT THE SECRETARY’S MARQUEE.

ALL RIDERS MUST BE DRESSED APPROPRIATELY IN ORDER TO RECEIVE THEIR PRIZE.

Prizes only awarded if the rider is present at the prizegiving.

The organisers reserve the right to amend awards presented.

We are open to suggestions after the Event.

Conditions of entry.

1. This competition will be run in accordance with Pony Club Eventing rules 2017. However it is a NEWCOMERS event with emphasis on competitors “learning the ropes” in a fun environment.

2. No practice over any part of the course is allowed at any time for 2 weeks prior. Any rider in breach of this rule will not be allowed to compete at the event, and any entry fees will be forfeited.

3. All PC entries must be signed by the District Commissioner IF PAPER ENTRY. All online entries members must request D.C to email permission.

4. All PC members’ hats must be tagged.

5. All Horses / Ponies to be at least 5 years old

6. The Chief Stewards decision is final.

The XC course is ready for inspection from Friday 2nd June 2017 2pm.

7.Beta level 3(2009) Body protectors compulsory and medical arm bands recommended for the cross country

8. All PC Competitors wishing to wear spurs must carry a note of permission from their DC, unless rider has passed the B test Riding section.

9. No entry fee will be refunded after the closing date for entries.Prior to the closing date, refund given if place is filled, minus administration fee.

10. If Air vests are worn, they MUST be over a normal body protector. In the case of a fall, they must fully deflate or be removed before continuing. If an Exo BodyCage is worn, the secretary MUST be informed and a key left to be given to the medical team.

11. Only horses or ponies competing at the event may be ridden.

10. CANCELLATION – In event of cancellation, all entries will be automatically forwarded to the new re-arranged date for the competition. The safety of riders and horses is of paramount importance to us. However, it is only under extreme conditions that the event will be cancelled. If the event is cancelled £20 (max) from each entry fee will be retained to cover costs incurred. There will not be a farrier in attendance on the day.
