Coffee Mornings at Crucible Corner

Due to feedback from members who can’t make it to our Tuesday coffee mornings, we’ve put on an additional coffee morning every other Friday. Come and join us for a cuppa and a chat. All events 11am-12pm.

October dates: Tuesday 4th, Friday 14th, Tuesday 18th, and Friday 28th

November dates: Tuesday 1st, Friday 11th, Tuesday 15th, Friday 25th, and Tuesday 29th

Monthly Internet drop-in sessions in the Crucible Theatre Bar Area

Come and learn how to use technology with our amazing volunteers. They’ll help you make sense of email, the internet, even video chatting with family and friends!

Music with Friends - Ukulele Friday 30th September: 11am-12pm

Join us upstairs at Eten Café (next to the Cathedral) for a live music performance. Entry is free, and you can purchase your own drinks.

Fun Palaces at Theatre Delicatessen Saturday 1st October: 11am-4pm

Fun Palaces is an ongoing campaign for culture at the heart of community, with an annual weekend of arts and science events created by, for and with local people. Come along to Theatre Delicatessen on The Moor for workshops, talks, arts sessions or just to relax in the cafe.One free tea or coffee in our arts cafe for Friends of Age UK Sheffield members.

Bus Pass Day out in Bakewell Monday 10th October: 10.30am

Grab your bus pass and join us for a leisurely day out in Bakewell. We will take the 218 bus at 10.30am, arriving in Bakewell at 11.20am. Meet at Sheffield Interchange, Arundel Gate. Please note, because this is a public bus service, we can’t guarantee that there will be a seat – however the service does run every 30 minutes.

Speaker Series: Samaritans Wednesday 19th October: 2pm-3pm

Come along and hear about the fascinating and immensely valuable work of The Samaritans. Entry is £3 to cover refreshments.

Mind and Memory taster session Friday 21st October: 2pm-4pm

A free taster session, all about strategies and techniques for a healthier mind and body. Light refreshments provided. Facilitated by Drink Wise, Age Well.

Venue: Royal Voluntary Service, Suite B, 4th Floor, Furnival House, 48 Furnival Gate, Sheffield S1 4QP. The venue is accessible but do call ahead to let us know your requirements.

History Walk: Outrageous! Friday 4th November: 1pm-3pm

Join us for a free heritage-themed walk with tales of Victorian murder and mayhem! When a Sheffield newspaper editor carried a gun, and grown men trembled on receiving a letter from Mary Ann. This promises to be a fun walk, looking at a wild time in Sheffield’s history. Meeting point is the Old Town Hall. Please note; limited spaces so please book ahead. Accessibility: this walk does cover some uneven ground, and includes one steep hill. Facilitated by Drink Wise, Age Well.

Free arts activities: Screen Printing Saturday 5th November: 12pm-4pm

Screen printing is a technique using stencils to print ink onto textiles. Join us for a free beginner’s workshop – no experience necessary! Free tea and coffee provided.

Afternoon Tea Dance Wednesday 9th November: 12pm-3pm

Please join us at the brand new Virgin Money Sheffield Lounge for an afternoon of fun. Get your dancing shoes on and come and enjoy a relaxed and sociable event, including the finest Yorkshire Tea with scones, jam and clotted cream. Everyone is welcome and it’s free to attend. Please note, limited places so please book ahead.

Presentation: Tax, Care & Toy Boys Thursday 17th November: 2pm-3pm

A humorous but informative presentation about common legal issues that affect families. Entry is £3 to cover refreshments. Venue: The Adelphi Room, The Crucible, 55 Norfolk Street, Sheffield S1 1DA

Make your own gifts: candle making Thursday 17th November: 3.30pm-5pm

Join us for a fun and lively candle making workshop, facilitated by Erin Spence. Entry is £3 to cover refreshments, with the opportunity to purchase the gifts you make for £5 (this covers the materials used). Please note this workshop follows the event above, but you don’t have to register for both if you only wish to attend one.

Coach trip: York Christmas Market Friday 25th November

Members’ Christmas Lunch Tuesday 6th December: 12.30pm-3pm

Join us for a Christmas lunch with all the trimmings, among friends. Lunch is served at 1pm. Price: £13. Please call 0114 250 2850 to book your place.

Speaker Series: Sheffield MIND Friday 16th December: 11am-12pm

An informative talk about the work of the mental health charity Sheffield MIND. Entry is £3 to cover refreshments.

The Great Gatsby Monday 19th December 7.30pm-9.30pm

It’s the roaring 1920s – an era of bootleg liquor, red hot jazz and some of the most swinging parties in town. Step into a heart racing adaptation of F Scott Fitzgerald’s seminal jazz-age story. 1920s dress encouraged, dancing shoes required!

This is an accessible performance in the main theatre space at Theatre Delicatessen, and is suitable for members with limited mobility. Entry fee is reduced for Friends of Age UK Sheffield members at £5 (normal price £15).

Theatre Delicatessen is offering members £5 off on any other night when quoting your membership number.

Cocktails with the Cast Tuesday 20th December 6pm-7pm

Come and have a cocktail with the cast of The Great Gatsby and hear all about the making of the show. Get an insight into how they developed the text, choreographed the moves and adapted it to the building. You can even stay and watch the show afterwards! Entry is just £5 for Friends of Age UK Sheffield members, including one drink (non-alcoholic cocktails are also available). Contact Age UK Sheffield on 0114 250 2850 to book a place, or pop into Theatre Delicatessen on The moor between 11am-4pm, Tuesday to Saturday.
