DUBLIN CITY COUNCIL

SOUTH CENTRAL AREA COMMITTEE

Emergency Motions

Motions

368.Emergency Motion No. 38. to the April City Council Meeting from Councillor ClareByrne Received: 25/03/2011, (It was agreed to refer this Emergency Motion from the April City Council Meeting to the July South Central Area CommitteeMeeting for an update. It was then agreed at the July Meeting to refer the motion to the October Meeting for a further update.)

That this City Council supports the residents of Memorial Court Senior Citizens Complex in acquiring a ground floor unit for community use in their Complex. The needs of the residents are genuine and their case is one that needs immediate attention. They are an ageing community, and it is important that this issue should be resolved as soon as possible.

402.Councillor Bríd Smith

This Area Committee calls on management to contact the ESB directly, as a matter of urgency, with a view to speeding up the progress on the works necessary to be carried out by the ESB in order to connect the newly installed sanitary units in Labre Park to the ESB powersupply.

403.Councillor Vincent Jackson

That this Area Committee requests that Dublin City Council take onboard apprentices to allow the completion of apprenticeships. It is a shame hundreds of young people are left in limbo needing a few months or a year to complete their skills training. The sad fact is that they need to complete their trade to have a chance of travelling to Australia, New Zealand, Canada or Europe. These apprentices would work for little or nothing just to finish their training.
