Completing your onsite competence assessments
The purpose of the onsite assessment process is to demonstrate and record your current and ongoing competency. If completed on each job it replaces the online OC job report system.
During each rotation, record your principal activities and get these signed off by a Supervisor. This could be a representative of the client or anyone in authority at the rig who observed you working. This person may also wish to ask supplementary knowledge questions and record your responses as further evidence.
Use as many forms as necessary. Eachrecord completed, signed off and sent to Oil Consultants will be uploaded against, and add to your current competency record which may be shared with current or future clients.
Completed forms (front page only required) should be emailed to o NOT upload them into your account, they need to be approved first on receipt. Their authenticity may be checked with the person signing them off. Forms received where the appraiser is not clearly identified may not be accepted.
Blank forms are available to download in your account on the OC website in "My Documents" in Word format and may be hand-written or word processed.
It is fine to record the same activity several times on one or more rotations, this is evidence of current and ongoing competence, but over time try and get as many different activities which you perform and equipment types that you use signed off. If some activities or equipment are not relevant to your job then ignore them.
You can also use the process to record health and safety related competence – tool box talks delivered, mentoring or training of junior operatives etc.
This process is in addition to the OC online competency verification scheme which you may have completed or currently be in progress with.
