OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH & SAFETY

FEBRUARY 11, 2015

-  WCB – OIS program - Occupational Injury Services

-  Pieter Lambooy form WCB claims and Kim Sidor – contract manager for OIS came to our Feb. 5, 2015 meeting

-  Gave a breakdown of how this program works

-  OIS doctors work for private companies

-  The workers can follow-up with their own physicians

-  Every time the OIS doctor is seen, a report is sent to the family physician

-  This is by the workers choice to see the OIS doctor, it is not the employers choice

-  No personal information or diagnosis is given to the employer

-  If this program is run properly, and not made out to be mandatory, it may work

-  Union is not endorsing this

-  My safety.net

-  A database for AHS & WCB, where all incidences are reported and documented

-  Rolling out in June of 2015

-  Unsure of this, as no word about it

-  We are working on an OH&S handbook to be sent out to all OH&S advocates and stewards

-  Still in rough draft

-  Deals with the most common codes and regulations that we use

-  Working alone issues, the committee wants to know about them, contact anyone on the committee

-  Bullying and Harassment

-  If these issues are not dealt with, please contact your MSO and get grievances filed

-  AHS has the bullying program in effect and need to be held accountable

-  OH&S Liaison

-  Terms of reference and duties and responsibilities are going to be set

-  This position is responsible for getting the information in and out to council

-  Re-vamp the reporting forms

-  OH&S/Day of Mourning – April 28th

-  Roles of the liaison

-  OIS

-  WCB reporting

-  Fill and fax, submit to employer
