Comprehensive information can be found in the “Guidance for Supporting Children and Young People with Medical Conditions in School” produced by North Yorkshire County Council.

ADMINISTRATION OF MEDICINES.

·  If appropriate, the staff will administer prescribed medicines during the school day.

·  An “Administration of administer Medicines” form, obtainable from the school office, must be completed.

·  It is the parent’s responsibility to ensure that the medicine is brought into the school office in a suitable container and that the medicine is collected at the end of the day.

·  Parents of children who suffer from asthma are requested to contact us as soon as possible so that we have full information regarding the appropriate treatment.

·  We ask that parents keep their child at home if he/she is infectious.

MEDICAL ARRANGEMENTS

·  Hearing, sight, dental and medical examinations are carried out in school by the Healthy Child Team in Harrogate.

·  Parents will be informed about these examinations and are invited to be present.

·  If a child is ill, or has an accident at school, the parents will be advised as soon as possible. It is important that we have emergency contact telephone numbers which should be up-dated whenever necessary. These numbers will be contacted if parents cannot be reached in the case of illness or accident. If neither parents nor emergency contacts can be reached, we would, if necessary, call a doctor or ambulance.

·  All the teaching staff have certificates in Emergency First Aid and Resuscitation.

·  9 members of staff have paediatric First Aid Training.
