OATH OF ATTORNEY TO OBTAIN COURTHOUSE PROXIMITY CARD

I, ______, of lawful age, being first duly sworn upon oath, depose and state as follows:

1. I am a practicing attorney in good standing in the State of Oklahoma and my OBA number is ______.

2. I agree that I shall use my proximity card for access through the turnstiles located at any of the three entrances to the Oklahoma County Courthouse.

3. I agree not to allow any other person use of my proximity card or to allow entrance of any other person while I am obtaining access. I understand this includes, but is not limited to, clients, support staff, other attorneys not having a badge or any other person.

4. I agree that the proximity card is a privilege which may be revoked at any time by the Sheriff for good cause.

5. I agree to comply with all rules of the Seventh Judicial District Court regarding materials that may be brought into the Courthouse and agree specifically not to bring in prohibited items.

6. I agree to cooperate fully and completely with Courthouse security personnel when obtaining access with my proximity card including, but not limited to, being subject to physical search of my person and property, being electronically "wanded," being required to go through a "scanner," and/or being instructed to enter through a different entrance.

7. I agree immediately to report to Oklahoma County Bar Association (OCBA) the loss or theft of my proximity card. I also agree to pay a replacement fee as determined by the OCBA for a new card. Repeated loss of the card may be grounds for revocation of this privilege. I fully understand privileges afforded by the card are non-transferable. I understand and agree that a violation of this Oath or of the Rules of Court referenced herein is a serious offense and will result in the loss of my proximity card, could be reported to the Oklahoma County Bar Fee Grievance and Ethics Committee, and could be referred to the Sheriff or Oklahoma County District Attorney for possible prosecution. Because the proximity card is a privilege bestowed upon attorneys based upon compliance with this Oath, I agree such remedies are reasonable for any willful and/or repeated violation of this Oath.

8. I recognize my obligation to maintain current "contact" information with the Oklahoma County Bar Association and will notify the OCBA in a timely manner if any of my information changes. I understand the proximity card requires a photo and that it is valid for a one year period, from April 1 through March 31 the following year, unless modified by the OCBA, cancelled or revoked for noncompliance with the terms and conditions contained in this Oath. I agree to surrender my proximity card immediately, if and when, I am suspended; have tendered my resignation; am stricken from the Roll of Attorneys; or am disbarred.

9. I acknowledge and agree to these provisions and submit payment of the required fee (first-time application = OCBA member - $50, non-member - $100; renewal = OCBA member - $40, non-member $90) to obtain an identification proximity card allowing "swipe" access to the Oklahoma County Courthouse. All conditions set forth are binding upon me, and I believe these are fair and reasonable for me to obtain and continue to exercise this privilege.
