Salary: Standard Main Scale 1–6 / UPS
Main Duties:
All teachers work within the statutory conditions of employment set out in the current School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document. The duties below are not therefore an exhaustive list of what is required.
- Be responsible for the teaching and learning of all pupils who are assigned to the postholder
- The work of the class will be in line with National Curriculum, Herts County Council and school requirements.
- Work will be assessed and targets set in line with school policy.
- Deadlines will be met: Plans/assessments/reports etc will be handed to the relevant staff BY the agreed date.
- The class teacher will share a corporate responsibility for the well being and discipline of all pupils in the school.
- Parents will be informed of their child’s progress through Parent Consultations, annual reports and informal conversations.
- Supervise the work of any support staff, including higher level teaching assistants and pupils who are assigned to work with the postholder’s pupils.
- The class teacher will contribute to creating a stimulating learning environment in communal areas as well as in their own classroom.
- The class teacher will take part in any School Self Evaluation and Performance Management Systems.
- The class teacher will take full part in Staff Development Meetings.
- The class teacher will lead Class/Key Stage Assemblies, and on occasion whole school.
- Each teacher (except NQT) will have an additional role such as a Subject Leader throughout the school. (See SL Job Description) At times a teacher may cover two curricular areas or organise other things in school eg. organising concerts, sports teams etc.
Teachers in the upper pay scale can be expected to make a particular contribution to building team commitment in line with the statutory requirement to meet threshold standards.
In particular, teachers at UP3 will:
- provide a role model for professional practice in the school
- make a distinctive contribution compared with other teachers
- contribute effectively to the wider team.

The specific duties attached to any individual teacher are subject to annual review and may, after discussion with the teacher, be changed.

The successful candidate will therefore be required to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
