2:00 PM COMMITTEE REPORTS
Committee on Mission (Given by The Rev. Jo Jordan)
· Northwest Team is preparing for their April gathering.
· Central Metro Team is one person short with the resignation of The Rev. Katherine Sedwick.
· Northeast Team
· West Metro Team recently did an activity with members of their faith communities, involving newsprint, to identify where their interests/energies lay.
· Southwest Team has been trying to emphasize to its faith communities that being part of a Mission Area is not all “work” and used the Marshmallow activity.
· Central Team is experiencing challenges: there are only three people on team and there is no support from faith communities
· East Metro Team planning April Mission Area Gathering. Information on officers has been sent to faith communities.
· Southeast Team is having a difficult time getting people assembled.
Mission Project 2013
· The Rev. Jim Shoulak provided a personal account of the Mama Ada Foundation, the focus of Mission Project 2013.
· Bishop Prior invited everyone to the ECMN website for resources; this is meant to be done during Lent.
· Bishop Prior asked Council for ideas for Mission Project 2014, which will be focused within the state of Minnesota. Applications will be forthcoming.
New Missioner Introductions
· Amanda Ziebell-Finley, the new Missioner for Mission, and Rolf Lowenberg-DeBoer, Missioner for Community Engagement, provided brief introductions.
Committee on Ministry (Given by The Rev. Ginny Padzieski & Canon Karen Olson)
· Priority is being shifted from primarily focusing on the formation of priests/deacons to the formation of all of the baptized. This has been a focus on the School for Formation. The committee would also like to better use the website to provide tools/resources for all.
· An electronic tool (Google Site) has now been created for those in formation. It can be accessed only through invitation.
Committee on Management (Given by Chris Bowman)
· Canonical amendment to be brought to Council (hopefully at the March MEB), which would be introduced at Convention creating a Joint Finance/Audit Committee.
· The audit will be in April and appropriate preparation is underway.
· Joint Finance has split into three subgroups: MMS relief support, structure for faith communities delinquent in their payments and assembly of 2014 budget process.
· Parochial Reports are now open; March 1 is the deadline. Last year, all but three faith communities met the deadline.
· Personnel Committee is currently down one clergy member with resignation of The Rev. Katherine Sedwick. The Rev. Christopher Haack may be interested but members of Council are encouraged to consider and submit other possible names to fill this position.
· There are six properties in transition; three of them have purchase agreements. Canonically, Council is not required to do anything with regard to this matter but reports will be regularly given to Council in the spirit of collaboration and transparency. Current properties in transition: Hallock, Paynesville, Tower, Le Center, Resurrection Temple & Rogers.
Respectfully Submitted,
Amanda Ziebell
Missioner for Mission
for Karen Olson, Secretary for Council
