NWLC Board Meeting Notes August 14, 2012
Finance Update
Balance in account is $21,128.68
Storage unit went up $67. A month from $61.
Coaches still need to be paid $4,000.
Owe City of Brooklyn Park $200
Owe CCSI $40 for a Background check
Lolene and Jeanne will be meeting with Mary Ellen on August 23 to transfer over the financial information that she has from when Mary Ellen was treasurer.
Need to return volunteer checks and cash the checks of the families that did not do there hours. Directors will email team mangers for a list of their team’s volunteers.
Looking at different ways to cut costs next year.
Have a chance to purchase lacrosse balls at a discount from the Loons.
Looking into a cheaper place for storage for equipment.
Jeanne stated that her dad has a pole shed that we could use for equipment.
Currently we are paying $800 a year to have the website up and running.
Look into different options for next year, current website is paid until December 31, 2012.
Using YLM for background checks next year will pay $10 instead of $25 per background check.
Need to be set up as a nonprofit for this to happen.
Need to obtain non-profit status.
Lisa Niesen will get the necessary paperwork filled for this.
Season Wrap up
Need to do inventory of all equipment
Need to pull goals off of the fields.
High School team is interested in borrowing goals and then we would put them in storage.
Coaches
Coaches are meeting with Eric for evaluations and feed back of the season.
Coaches will be paid after they meet with Eric.
Would like to see more communication and set expectations with coaches next season.
Have a parent meeting with coaches for expectations and as a way to help get the players to form a “team”.
Need to lay out specific responsibilities for coaches and team managers.
Board needs to take on more responsibilities of overseeing coaches instead of the team managers.
Brian stated that he would be interested in helping with more roles and responsibilities with the Board.
Board meetings will be the first Tuesday of the month 7:00 pm at the Forum. With the exception of November there will not be a meeting that month.
Next meeting will be September 4, 2012 7:00 pm at the Forum.
