Texas State University-San Marcos

Date of Career Exploration Experience (CEE):

Faculty Supervisor:

The Nutrition and Foods program at Texas State University requires that all students must complete a 150-hour practicum (Career Exploration Experience) to complete degree requirements. There is no outline of REQUIRED competencies that must be fulfilled during this experience; the student is prepared to participate in any assignment(s) your facility can provide in any/all aspects of the Nutrition and Foods profession. The purpose of this practicum is for the student to gain professional experience that will enhance the academic preparation provided by Texas State University. To be eligible to enroll in NUTR 4301, the student must have completed all University Core coursework, most of the Nutrition and Foods courses, and must have at least a 2.0 overall GPA and a 2.25 GPA in major courses.

The student providing this form to you has identified your facility as a possible Career Exploration Experience (CEE) and is now working through an application/interview process with you. If you agree to work with this student, the student, with your input, will first identify objectives to be achieved during the experience. While working for the required 150 hours at your facility, the student will be required to submit weekly reports to the supervising faculty in order to complete course requirements. Their final report will summarize the work environment, addressing such things as orientation, in-service, employee benefits, work schedules and expectations, and administrative organization. With your assistance, the practicum will expose the student to your facility and will instill an appreciation for the demanding and varied expectations of the profession.

Your responsibilities will include providing guidance and supervision. At the end of the CEE, you will also be asked to formally evaluate the student’s performance. The student will provide you with the evaluation form, and we ask that you email the completed form directly to the supervising faculty. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the supervising faculty.

Thank you for agreeing to provide this valuable experience to our students.
