Travel Opportunities for Nursing and Midwifery Students

Terms of Reference

The Travel Opportunities group exists to facilitate student nurses and midwives in the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences to undertake national or international elective learning practice opportunitiesrelated to their programme of study.

The philosophy of the group is that thestudent travel experience will enrich the personal and professional development of student nurses and reflect the underpinning philosophy of the University’s internationalisation agenda, together with the preparation of UWE students for employability within a global workforce.

An experience abroad or elsewhere in the UK gives students an opportunity to reflect upon and identify their own learning needs within a unique practice environment of their choice. This enablesthem to deepen their knowledge and understandingregarding a specific service provision or organisation, in the context of inter-professional working.

These experiencesoffer UWE student nurses and midwivesthe opportunity to arrange to visit and undertake work experience within a health or welfare service in the UK or abroad.
