Nursing Curriculum Worksheet

Curriculum Year 2016-17

Currently enrolled Clemson students should complete a “what if” degree audit in iROAR by following these steps:

  1. Log in to iroar.clemson.edu
  2. Click on “Student” tab
  3. Click on “Student Records” link
  4. Click on “Degree Works” link
  5. Once that launches, click on the “What If” link on the far left side of the website.
  6. For the parameters it asks you to enter, choose: “Bachelor of Science” for Degree; “ 2015-2016” for curriculum year; and “Nursing” as major. Finally, click on either “save as pdf” or “process what if” button.
  7. Students should always double check with the advisor for Nursing to ensure accuracy of what if degree audit report.

*** Elective: If a student completes the both the Humanities non-literature and the Humanities cross cultural with one course (see 2015-2016 Undergraduate Catalog), then student will need to complete another course of their choosing as a 3 credit hour elective.

CH 1010 is the required chemistry course. Students may NOT take CH 1050 or CH 1060 to satisfy the chemistry requirement.

^A Clemson Math Placement Test (CMPT) score of 60 or better is required to enroll in CH 1010 & a score of 65 or better is required to enroll in STAT 2300. Students earning less than a score of 65 on the CMPT will be required to take pre-requisite MATH courses according to the score placement to get to the required STAT 2300 course. Transfer students presenting appropriate math credit(s) will be required to re-take appropriate math courses to their CMPT score placement to progress in Nursing.

STAT 2300 is the required math course for Nursing majors. There have been recent changes in math courses, specifically statistics. Students are encouraged to consult the math website for more information: http://people.clemson.edu/~ehepfer/Undergrad_Statistics/Stat_FlowChart.html

NURS 1400, NURS 3200, NURS 3100, NURS 3110 and NUTR 2050 are open to Nursing majors only. NURS 3100, 3110, 3200 and 1400 are not offered in summer terms.

#CPSC 1200 may NO LONGER be substituted for NURS 1400for students enrolled in the traditional BSN program

MICR 2050 is only offered in the Fall semester. MICR 3050 may be substituted for MICR 2050.

BIOL 2220 is only offered in the Fall, and BIOL 2230 is only offered in the Spring.

BIOL 1100 may substitute for BIOL 1030/1050. BIOL 1040/1060, 1210, 1220, 1230, and 1110 are NOT acceptable substitutions. BIOL 1030/1050 & BIOL 1100 are only offered in the Fall at Clemson.

Nutrition Requirement – NUTR 2050 is offered only in the fall semester at Clemson. NUTR 2030 may not be used to satisfy any degree requirement for Nursing.

ENGL 3140/3040/3150 requires 60 credits earned for registration at Clemson University. Students should wait and take the course as part of the first semester clinical in the spring of their junior year, especially if you have scholarship requirements that require taking 15 or more credit hours each semester.

NURS 1400 and/or NURS 3330 will complete the student’s science and technology in society (STS) requirement.
