Admissions Policy

The University of Bradford Nursery is committed to making our setting accessible to children and families from the local area and other districts. We aim to ensure that all sections of our community and other districts have access to the setting through open, fair and clearly communicated procedures.

Procedures

  • We operate an ‘open door’ policy, which enables families to access the provision at anytime during the working hours of 7.45am–6.00pm. A staff member will be on hand to show you around and answer any questions/queries you may have.
  • We ensure that information about the setting is widely advertised in places accessible to all sections of the local community
  • We ensure that prospective University of Bradford students (home/overseas) are given an information pack about the setting during inductions.
  • We ensure that information about the setting is accessible, in written and spoken form and where appropriate in more than one language.
  • We ensure that application forms are readily available. An application form will need to be filled in to secure a place upon the settings waiting list.
  • Our waiting list is arranged in order of application receipt, on a ‘first come, first served basis’.
  • Depending on the sessions you require the waiting time will vary, you may be lucky and be offered a place quickly or you may have wait while your child progresses up the list.
  • We welcome fathers and mothers, other relations and other carers, including nannies and/or childminders.
  • There is no guarantee a place can be offered for the time requested, but you are welcome to contact Nursery at intervals to assess how your child is moving up the list or gain an insight into the progress of your application.
  • It is essential that you inform us of any change to your home address or telephone number, while your child is on the waiting list, as if a place becomes available we will need to be able to contact you.
  • If after several attempts to make contact, we gain no response your child's name will be removed from our waiting list.
  • If you accept a place offered an initial paperwork visit will be made for you to come along to nursery to meet with your child’s keyworker and fill in the admissions paperwork.
  • If at any time after the initial paperwork visit you decline the place your child will return to the back of the waiting list.
  • If after contact you do not accept the place offered, but wish to remain on the waiting list you will stay in your current position.
  • If you advise that a place is no longer requireyour childwill be taken off of the waiting list and the application form filed away in the appropriate place.
  • Places cannot be saved in advance as this stops another child being allocated a place
