NET PROCEDURE FOR MONTGOMERY/ PULASKI COUNTY ARES NET

______(spell phonetically) calling the Montgomery / Pulaski County Amateur Radio Emergency Service Net. This net meets weekly on Thursday evenings at 8:00 PM local time.
My name is ______and I am located in ______, Virginia. This is a directed net and a member of the National Traffic System. The first portion of this net will be formal. Traffic and check-ins, …only, will be accepted during the formal portion.
Since this is a formal net, I ask that you stand by your equipment until the formal session is closed. After the formal session, the NCS (Net Control Station) will accept check-ins and comments.

The Montgomery / Pulaski County ARES / RACES is a voluntary service organization of licensed radio amateurs. We have registered our capabilities and equipment to provide emergency communications as a public service to the Commonwealth of Virginia, Montgomery County, Pulaski County, and the surrounding areas.

The purpose of the Montgomery / Pulaski County ARES / RACES is to provide communications in the event of a disaster, or other emergency situations when regular communications may fail or become inadequate.
The Montgomery / Pulaski County ARES / RACES is affiliated through emergency communications with the following served agencies:
- The American Red Cross New River Valley Chapter.
- The National Weather Service Including the SKYWARN and Weather Spotter System, located in Blacksburg, VA.
- The Montgomery County Emergency Service
- The Town of Christiansburg
- The Pulaski County Emergency Service,
The Montgomery / Pulaski County ARES / RACES is registered and ready for local and the Commonwealth of Virginia communication emergencies.

After hearing the operators respond to your invitation to call, acknowledge each operator in reverse order by their name and call. Then beginning with the first operator that called you and using their callsign and name, call each operator in the order listed and ask for their comments.
Upon each operator completing their comments, state … “ Thank you for your comments and we will clear with …. (state operator’s callsign.)” Then call the next operator on your list.

1) The New River Valley Amateur Radio Club 2 Meter Sunday Evening FM Net meets each Sunday evening at 8:00 PM on this repeater, the N4NRV 147.180. This repeater has a (plus) +600 offset and a 103.5 PL tone. This net is for the purpose of passing traffic, net training, and a general get-together of all hams in the area. All amateur radio operators are welcome to check-in.
2) The next VE Test Session will be held on ______(obtain the upcoming testing date) at the Radford Public Library located across from Applebee’s in Radford. Please arrive no later than 1:30 pm and bring the following items: 1) photocopy and original of current amateur radio license if licensed, 2) photocopy and original of CSCE(s) that are current, 3) two forms of legal ID, at least one photo ID, 4) pens and pencils, 5) calculator for math problems on exams. NOTE: No pocket computers are allowed. The current exam fee is $15.00. Handicapped access is also available.
3) The NRV Amateur Radio Club invites you to the weekly Saturday morning Dutch Treat Breakfast, which is held at 8:45 AM at the Country Kitchen in Christiansburg. The Country Kitchen is located on US Rt. 11 near the town limits. Please note that on the first Saturday of each month at 8:45 AM, a Dutch Treat Breakfast is held at Shoney’s located at the Dublin, VA, I-81 exit. You will enjoy the camaraderie.

4) The NRV Amateur Radio Club conducts their monthly meeting on the fourth Monday
of each month at 7:30pm. The Club meeting is currently held at the Christiansburg
Public Library located behind the Christiansburg Fire and Rescue Dept.
