TITLE: / Sydney West Rugby Development Officer

Purpose of Role
- Implement activities & programs to support the growth and participation in Rugby Development throughout the Sydney West Region and NSW
- Implement infrastructure and services to ensure the rugby environment is safe and to promote enjoyment, skill development for new and existing participants specifically in Rugby Development Clubs and Schools.
- Establish relationships with Rugby Clubs & Schools to facilitate the growth of Rugby at grass roots level.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Strategy
- As Development Officer implement specific Development programs as to facilitate the delivery of strategic NSWRU objectives.
- Work with stakeholders such as junior clubs and schools to help facilitate delivery of their strategic planning outcomes
- Work with the NSWRU Development management team to achieve and maintain productive, progressive and harmonious relationships with stakeholders
- Establish a network and create a relationship with community stakeholders to deliver ‘customer focussed’ consistent education activities for community coaches, referees and administrators within designated region. Ensure rugby environment is safe, enjoyable and facilitates participation.
- Deliver education programs using the latest techniques and resources as directed. Conduct specific Rugby clinics in conjunction with community junior clubs.
- Work with stakeholders to coordinate & facilitate opportunities for increased playing opportunities. Facilitate participation of schools in regular Rugby competitions.
- Establish relationship with community organisations i.e. volunteers & referees to assist with recruitment and retention. Educate and promote all available NSWRU support resources, websites and programs.
- Manage the interactions with junior clubs and facilitate the recruitment process from schools to junior clubs
- Provide technical support to Rugby playing schools to improve skills of players and coaches.
- Provide support and participate in other Rugby Development initiatives as directed by senior NSWRU Development Staff
- Work to promote personal development participate as part of an effective team
Competencies/Skills
- Outgoing positive attitude with good negotiation skills. Ability to evoke the cooperation across area of influence.
- Strong communication skills, written & verbal ability to deliver presentations in area of expertise
- Working knowledge of Rugby Development standards, expectations & opportunities.
- Computer literate – working proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Independent self starter with strong organisational skills.
- Ability to work positively contribute to a team environment
Education/Qualifications
- Appropriate Tertiary degree (i.e. sport management/sport development)
- Coach / Match Official relevant accreditation – minimum Smart Rugby (Level 2 preferred)
- Meet requirements of Working With Children Check
- Current Drivers Licence
- Experience in sport in particularly at the grass roots level
- Previous volunteer experience in sport
- Senior First Aid
